games to none in the cup series near impossible a second period goal by Sam Reinhardt was the difference gave the Panthers a lead for good in a 2 to1 game seven win as they capture their first ever Stanley Cup in South Florida for the Panthers the final uh two to three minutes of this game even with Skinner out of the net Edmonton was just absolutely sucking wind they had nothing left in the tank uh Conor McDavid wins the con Smite doesn’t go out to accept it and he played TW I just just think he was gassed I know he’s a competitor he wanted to win and uh 25 shifts 25 minutes and 42 seconds he tried to will his team back in this series and in game number seven and he tried to will them back from that one goal deficit Sergey bosski played very well in the end congratulations to the Panthers for coming back and for winning the cup it was Game number 1,400 in this NHL season and the finale was a doozy I’m still waiting to find out what the conversation was with the media and McDavid concerning the KMI because ESPN an awesome awesome awesome broadcast it was don’t don’t get me started yeah no I’ll just start by now and saying ESPN sucked and good job getting barkov lifting the cup and what the Tuesday yeah definitely no so but the question I do have is McDavid was being asked about the KMI you heard the KMI you heard the word K Smite and then ESPN Cuts back to the panel and you see the panel you see Levy and and PK they were standing it showed their backs right from upstairs looking down on the ice well it they they were waiting they were I think they wanted to hear what McDavid was going to say I mean did MCD was McDavid even told he won the K Smite was he given the option to go out there the way the crowd was booing I think it’s a distraction he go out there anyway that was so bad don’t Boo don’t boo I agree not a fan base that’s not going to boo in that circumstance there’s not a fi gives up 100 goals there earlier in this series please this was but what I’m saying is if last year if barov would have won the K Smite T-Mobile would have lit him up the whole time because that’s just what happened gotta be better you just got to be better I agree I agree I agree but back to the game I mean listen it’s um Edmonton had Pockets I think Florida was the better team for more of the game that second goal Florida got not a great goal not a bad B goals definitely one Skinner obviously is going to want back but that’s not why they lost the game uh barowski won the game for the Panthers a number of high danger chances that were saved the Florida Panthers defense got down and just did such a good job there was two or three goals that were sure goals that got blocked or disrupted as someone had basically an open an empty net and uh you know Stanley Cup Final for the ages like it says there in the headline I think it definitely checked a lot of boxes it absolutely sucked for three games and uh for last four games including all the way to the final second of game seven it was awesome I guess I wish I could have seen a couple more shots on goal down the stretch but so be it it was uh it was a lot of fun the NHL got what they needed I think out of this series they got to Showcase McDavid they got a game seven they got drama it’s unfortunate ESPN was the one you know showing the World the game but that’s behind us now and thankfully for an entire year that’s going to be behind us as well so yeah I guess we Clos the book on the season but uh the activity I think is just kind of starting right now I hate it when the director tries to get too cute and some of those angles last night on ESPN were absolutely horrendous see I like the overhead shots I like the roving camera I thought that was just awful on the power play you’re sitting like in the mezzanine basically on top of the ice it was awful Fox used to do this a lot we’re going way back obviously they’re one of the first Network I believe that actually would switch to a north south camera when a team was on the power play I thought that was awesome I love stuff like that sure they can simplify it a little bit but I’m okay with the angles I I liked it but I’m also if you watch the game a lot it’s not disruptive if you’re a casual fan you don’t watch it a lot I can see it also can be as little a little disruptive too as far as Mark Stone was concerned a season ago what did he say it holds six beers in in the cup is that how that was like 12 or 18 or 20 or something it was more than that oh was more than that we’re going to have to do some research cuz that’s going it’s tall boys or or like little Fufu 12 ounce beers I guess I don’t know I think they’re 12 ounce beers 18 18 ipas or 16 Bud Lights can I say Bud Light don’t get mad if I said Bud Light don’t be that please don’t do that okay and the third period Edmonton held Florida without a shot on that for nine minutes they tilted the they did what they had to do they just could not they just could not complete the task yeah I mean I I hate the cliche you know they wanted it more and stuff like that but Florida did I think uh they they willed themselves to Victory they checked a lot of the boxes that needed to be checked to win a game seven Stanley Cup clinching game and uh thank you know I’m I’m going say thank goodness I was rooting for Edmonton and McDavid that was clear but uh we got some gems obviously from Paul Maurice and uh in his postgame quotes and stuff like that and uh lot of fun to watch Maurice uh just become a national treasure I guess in front of our very eyes and uh it’s a tough trophy to win Paul Maurice will be the first to tell you I guess right yeah for sure the Panthers a team that is far better than last season nine new players aoso and teras senko were the key additions at the trade deadline if you’re going to be successful in the NHL you have to have those rentals late in the season it’s a must it’s an absolute must it’s I mean Vegas obviously has done that I think every year in their existence maybe the only year that didn’t happen they did sign mantha to help them out in the playoffs they also got that Noah hannahan dude he’s pretty good and I think expectations were a little higher obviously for Tomas hurdle um but vgk every year they have no problem selling out if they think there’s a chance obviously season five was a little different because of the injury weird cap situation and uh while trying to trade um uh what’s his name uh to um I always forget his name to Anaheim and that didn’t work out and he came back and I always forget the dof’s name why do I forget the donal’s name I should put his jersey behind me back there and take all take mine down okay how far do you feel vgk was from cup contention this past season miles a lot of miles a lot of miles I mean they were good like I mean they they took the Dallas Stars who were a or theing seed they were the number eight seed they were the number eight seed we’re not going to argue that obviously and they were a different kind of hybrid strange eight seed to be fair and they took the number one seed all the way until the final seconds of game seven of the first round and that number one seed of course we’re referencing is the Dallas are the Dallas Stars who were one of the cup favorites as well so yes Vegas was an eight seed but they were not the typical ly they were a good playoff team that I don’t know if they were NE I don’t think they were getting better I know everyone wants to play the chemistry narrative and if they just could have had a little bit longer it would have gotten better I don’t buy I don’t buy a I buy a little bit of that I don’t buy a lot of that and to answer your question how far away were they I mean so let’s look at the two teams in the Stanley Cup the Edmonton Oilers a rush team uh good defense and solid goal tending but more about the rush quick strike and some individual efforts of course Conor McDavid and the Smite and Leon dry Sidle on probably two bad Wheels I can’t wait to find out what his injury is he has he literally he has to have a broken leg I’m not even joking he probably has a broken leg the way he was skating out there um as far as how close they were I mean listen questions in net number one Logan did great got yanked Aiden got a shut out in the in the playoffs but he had two games where maybe he wasn’t as good so you don’t know what’s going to happen in net the defensive core is was not the same defensive core year-over-year as far as what they were allowing to happen and the forwards weren’t scored enough so I mean the golden knights were extremely far and it would not have been a competitive series if the golden knights I know that I know the golden knights couldn’t have faced Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final I know I know how the rules work but if the golden knights would have faced Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final they would have gotten smoked if they would have faced the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final they would have got smoked even worse smoked sm% and I still I’m going to contend that this year’s Florida Panthers team would have defeated last year’s vgk team I didn’t even think it would be close because of all those injuries that’s that’s a seven game series right there Tony that just comes down to a little bit of bad ice and whoever scores the last goal of the game how was the how was that ice last night it was better last night than game five I thought game five it was terrible game five it was like watching an outdoor game just the puck is stopping you know it wasn’t great yesterday like you see McDavid taking a tumble you see kachuck taking tumbles I mean you see the world’s greatest players just simply losing edges and stuff and really fast maybe this isn’t that big of a deal but everyone like I I’m seeing local media members I’m seeing National media members absolutely blasting Matt kachuck getting called for a tripping penalty because he fell down and wiped a player outs it doesn’t matter okay kachuck fell he his actions took out a player on the opposing team thus creating a scoring chance immediately for the Florida Panthers that is a trip or an interference all day I don’t care that he didn’t intend to trip him I don’t care that he accidentally fell down I don’t care about any of that it’s a trip anyone who’s saying it wasn’t a trip you are absolutely undoubtedly 100,000% wrong on that that’s not a game seven penalty like pound sand I can’t I can’t believe that the Panthers use salt water on that ice for the ice from the Atlantic can’t believe it Matthew kachuck Matthew kachuck uh shout out to my fans and Calgary still good that was good you know I couldn’t let Edmonton win that was good that was good that was one of the better quotes that was good that was fun now the attention uh will shift to Las Vegas this week NHL awards at the fountain blue on Thursday NHL draft here on Friday and Saturday after that now here locally uh from what we understand development Camp will begin on Monday also officially you’ve got free agency starting on Monday as well it is a very busy and tight time frame this is this is where it gets fun like we got we got two weeks of fun we got two or three really good weeks right now of just keeping an eye on what’s going on and just reacting and not going to have to search for a lot of content not that we’ve had to search for a lot of content for the last 25 days but the content’s going to come right to us oh content’s been coming but again congratulations to the Florida Panthers great series The only thing that was sad and unfortunate was just you know when they took Skinner out of the net Edmonton had absolutely nothing left it took them 10 seconds to get to their own blue line to get into neutral ice they were just they were exhausted why it’s so difficult to come back from 03 of course and they almost did that’s the thing and you know I know we’re going a little long in this first segment here but you look at the build of the Oilers and they still had the depth but they got this amazing top six obviously you got the best player in the world you look at this defensive core and goalie situation on paper and it’s not good it’s not good especially Darnell nurse uh I forgot about darl ners because he’s only high priced thought we didn’t have any high priced T but you know what I’m saying there he should have come out on the ice to pick up K SMI Darnell nurse yeah that would have been great for fun um that would but you look at the makeup of the Oilers and you look at the makeup of the Panthers who are rolling four lines coming at you hard and stuff and uh curious to see what path vgk takes next year whether they go a little more topheavy Mitch Marner or they just kind of see if they can get March so done and yeah there we go coming up next lenus olar is headed to Ottawa instead of Las Vegas if the golden reports that the golden kns were indeed involved in trade conversations with the Boston Bruins about a deal to bring lenus olar to Las Vegas west to Las Vegas did Kell mccrimon just simply run out of time having to clear the cap space having to make a deal by this upcoming Sunday to pick up omark’s million dollar bonus and to sign olark to an extension to be honest omark was the only net minder that I really coveted to be gold tender number one here in Las Vegas all right so we talked a little bit about this yesterday what is the what is the hole the golden knights are looking to address if anything as far as the goalie goal that’s go that’s the first question here you do have a Stanley Cup winning Duo it was a little bit weird obviously the season to happen because there’s three other goalies in the mix but Logan Thompson Aiden Hill are both a part of a Stanley Cup winning Duo of course Aiden Hill gets the flowers for what he did in the playoffs had one of the best playoff performances in the history of the National Hockey League list night forget that now current situation with the goalies we obviously feel Logan Thompson is concern that he’s not a part of the future of the organization it’s clear he is goalie not even 1B he is goalie number 2C in the system as far as Shawn Burke is concerned that’s clear as day Aiden Hill on the other hand I think now his career high in appearances in a regular season is up to 35 it’s up to 35 and this is a goalie Who’s Making 4.9 million so what is the golden Knight’s problem and then how do you solve the problem one way to do it is if you can shed Aiden Hill and that $4.9 million contract now what do you look to do about that you have to look at free agents there’s four goalie free agents who should be right around $3 million or under as far as a goes you got someone like Alex n jelovich uh 38 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins got over a n got a 902 save percentage on a bad defensive team team last year uh you got Capal Konan from the San Jose Sharks and obviously a little bit with the New Jersey Devils last season s sharks he did put up a 916 save percentage in 2122 that number slipped into the high 89 even 88 with the San Jose Sharks for the last couple of Seasons the San Jose Sharks I’m not going to put too much stock into that you want to go with an older goalie you got cam tbut 23-24 54 games with the Los Angeles Kings and a 913 save percentage he’s 36 years old though so how much does he have left leaves us with elas Samson off obviously of the Toronto Maple Leafs who did have 40 appearances and an 890 safe percentage but the year before that he put up a 919 if the golden knights want to move on from one of the two goalies it happens one of two ways I know we’re going long here but I’ll try and make it quick you Aiden Hill in his situation if the golden knights Can Shed Aiden Hill and then they get a samsonoff they get a Konan they get a talut they get a jelovich that saves a team anywhere from2 to3 million now the gold Knights have over $9 million to work with for March or so and a couple of their unrestricted free agents on the other side of that if you’re going to make a blockbuster trade where Mitch martyr possibly comes in that’s when Logan Thompson probably becomes part of the equation along with the Theodor along with the McNab and along with the package of draft picks whatever the golden knights have left so what’s the plug the golden kns are looking to fill number one how do they get there I don’t think allmar was the answer because all you’re doing is swapping Aiden the hill and lus olark I’m not saying olark is a bad goalie by any means but I don’t know if that fixes a problem I don’t agree and I think that vgk is I think that’s a setback number one and I feel as though just the entire picture now for the golden knights I think they’re in a little bit of trouble I do the goalie Situation’s money I I it’s much muddier than people are willing to acknowledge that’s muddy but so is everything else right now of course it is we’re six days away from March so being unemployed my goodness I don’t know what’s going to happen in the upcoming week but it’s high drama time here in Vegas so the uh the deal again wasar to Ottawa for Mark cellic junis Corp pasalo and the 25th pick in this year’s NHL draft coming up this weekend here so as we told you yesterday six teams no less than six teams have inquired about vgk goalies STS to reason that LT is probably he’s probably gone I think he’s got to there’s got to be some movement there with the goldendent to clear the books to finagle some things to move in if you want a mitch Marner there’s a lot of moving Parts here and again I still don’t understand why teams deal with vgk why would they help to fuel the fire here in Vegas because they want draft piics because they want because they want prospects the golden knights are very willing to move them and because they want considerations that’s the number one answer on Family Feud hey and the thing is uh Shay Theodore I think that was a very famous trade that went down in the off season and Anaheim still I don’t think receiv their future considerations someone said so I guess we owe them a favor at some point I mean listen again it comes down to and first of all these next you know starting right now it’s not going to wait until July 1 starting right now this is when it’s going to get very interesting this could be more exciting as far as the golden knights go maybe exciting isn’t the proper word but there could be more activity now than any tread any trade deadline the golden knights have had any off season I mean there are so many questions right now there’s $6.2 million available to the golden knights to make moves that obviously assumes Robin leoner is going to uh not pull an Undertaker and rise from the grave but we’ll see if that happens I don’t think it’s gonna happen so $6.2 million marcheso Stevenson P dorv those are the players who the team has not made any and and technically uh Alec Martinez those are the players the team has not made a statement hey they’re coming back or they’re not coming back like obviously Anthony mantha Mike am Mario will carer we know those three are as good as gone right now so $6.2 million doesn’t go a long way when I say those four or five names right there but you trade an Aiden Hill and now you free up another two or three million depending on who the replacement is or if they go the Blockbuster route obviously you’re going to see a lot of moving parts and it’s gonna be fun it’s going to be exciting Kelly mcm’s credit rating is still over 800 it’s uh whatever he decides to do I think I will trust but if marcheso does end up leaving which I feel like is all but a done deal at this point Maybe I’m Wrong I Don’t Know But if Maro does end up leading in the team leaving and the team doesn’t make a splash then what then what see this is why I think they’re in a little bit of trouble and then wasn’t it uh Nick ha who knew exactly how much money was left in the bank and said I want all of it because now the players have the leverage right so if there’s a who says Okay um I’m making 2 million year I want 4 million and I know that it’s available I think leverage to the players this is why I think they’re in a little bit of trouble right now my my gamblers is in trouble I do I’ll I’ll address that in a second my gamblers will understand this so if you’re playing how in the world are The Dominoes going to fall in vk’s favor now because they have every year and they will but really F I got a fun analogy I got a fun wait wait wait okay and one another thing I’m sorry to cut you off you’re good keep going keep going give me a long okay so I said three and a half new players and that’s going up quickly to four and a hook new players in theine I’m okay with that oh oh vgk had chemistry issues this past season integrate four new players into five five new players into this stinking lineup what kind of chemistry problems will they have in the future it’ll be fun to see a year-over-year comparison of uh the starting lineup this past season against Seattle and whoever their first uh game they play it be Seattle again maybe Utah the Washington generals might be coming in Cleveland Barons Colorado Rockies there we go all right so there in the news right into the news cycle so yesterday the big news bgk announcing its annual Road its road trip and this summer from August 1st through the 8th the Caravan is headed to Jackson Wyoming then Billings Montana then corter Lane Idaho then Boise and Reno hopefully there’s an announcement of the ECHL affiliate prior to August the 8th I want to know what’s going to be sooner the announcement know the ECHL uh uh night monsters or the Tucson roadr Runners relocating to Reno yeah remember saw that I mean there’s so much happening right now and that’s we’ll tackle that one tomorrow because I want to go in I want is that arena for marulu though is that even gonna happen there is that gonna happen Arizona is the new arena there at the Grand Sierra in Reno is that is that still gonna happen I don’t know I don’t know the way Maro runs with arenas probably not um I mean listen all goofy is and I’m I’m number one I’m surprised they didn’t bring the Caravan down to Arizona and I I don’t mean this to to crap on Arizona fans but Arizona is now the vgk television markets yeah I’m surprised they didn’t go down there on some type of Goodwill thing to open I don’t know I know it’s I know it’s a very liquid sensitive situation it’s not their TV Market it’s their app market either way fine it is it is available to we can’t even get it in Vegas they’re going to go Target Jackson Wyoming the this road trip is important to the team and you do look at the fact now that you do have allegedly allegedly the ECHL Affiliates of the Vegas golden knights going to be up in Tahoe an area where this Caravan has gone for about the last I think they’ve been doing this for four or five even six seasons now so stuff like this is certainly important to building brand awareness and getting the name out there getting the word out there and stuff and I’m sure there are people that do look forward to where this Caravan has gone through each of the I don’t know if they’ve besides Reno I don’t know if they visit these other places before or not um but it is important to the team it’s important to people in those areas that do enjoy this so we’ll see what the end game is here I mean maybe sometime there’ll be some type of hockey exposure in Jackson Wyoming or Billings or cord Delane I hope I said that right or boysan you see how that plays out but it’s it’s good to see and it is important to the team and just building brand awareness no Utah no Salt Lake City all the more reason why I said they should go in Arizona yeah but that’s they’d have to go south and then North and I don’t think that they had that capacity but they is is Phoenix down there or up there well if you’re Bruce Cassidy Phoenix is up there that up for you thanks man thanks for doing that I really
