the recording all right hi everyone guys ready want to announce updates on um uh John means and Tyler Wells unfortunately both players uh are going to miss the remainder of the season and um undergo elbow surgery here in the um Coming days um Danny kulo yesterday in Los Angeles with Dr ELR had bone chips removed from his elbow and then finally Kyle bradish uh this morning had Tommy John surgery in uh Dallas with Dr Meister this guy is really uh a tough ombre and he pitched um through an injury uh we were marveling at how well he was pitching with it and uh he gave us everything he had and um we’re going to miss him yeah he is a an enormous part of this theme and organization and that’s a tough blow but it’s going to be temporary today marks the beginning of a groundbreaking partnership between Harlem Park Elementary Middle School and the Oreos it is an alliance that symbolizes hope the belief in our children and growth purpose is why we’re here today at Harlem Park Elementary Middle School we are here to support support them provide resources for them uplift them and help these kids not just survive but to give them an opportunity to thrive that is the orial way and that is our commitment to this school par Park is a neighborhood West Baltimore about 3 miles SC miles from here maybe a little bit less it is one of those stereotypical kind of Redline challenged neighborhoods that we see in Baltimore 87% of our students live in single parent households the median income is $24,000 the unemployment rate is 21% and the percentage of families in poverty is over 50% I want you to know that you are leaning into a community that really needs the help they can only see and aspire to what has been modeled in front of them and because your brand is excellent they get to lean in and to see the possibilities of what they could One Day become as a result of our oro’s partnership and this collaboration we’re in proven already student achievement thank you for becoming a support system for our children children who have no idea that they need somebody to advocate for them and to level the playing field because of you some of my children will have an opportunity for a brighter and a better future this is nothing short of a miracle and a blessing and I know it and I want to humbly thank you because you’re changing the lives of thousands of children to come God bless you how often is it that you have a major organization take the time to seek your school out and come sit at the table with you to find out what your needs are the Oreos did something different what they did was they don’t just invite us to the park but they also come to where we are that’s huge they come into our community good morning how’s everyone doing today good y’all look like you can play some ball my name is James mccan and I play for the Baltimore Orioles so I’m here to play some ball with y’all today how does that [Music] sound greatest advice two parts to it ready every day that you’re not out working somebody else is getting better than you you know what that means means every day that you take off there’s someone else out there that’s that’s passing you up and getting better so that’s the first part the second part is don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can accomplish something cuz you can do anything you put your mind to when he came in not only did he talk to the kids he would stand and talk to the children about their stance how you should throw he talked to them about what he did and what inspired him he allowed them to ask him questions I am a believer that children have to see things modeled in front of them so that they can aspire to it every when you throw it put your so then when when you throw it it gets spin like that it’ll go it’ll go further so there you go on this one instead of instead of letting this foot come through like this just turn on that back [Music] leg Yeah our children have had an opportunity to go to the National Aquarium and participate in the wetlands project that was as a a result of this partnership in addition to that there’s sitting down with me to talk about what I need as a leader developing my leadership and the leadership of my administrative team as well as my staff my teaching staff my support staff has been key in looking at what resources we needed to really pull our school together and take off academically when we have meetings we’re talking about not just what we do this year but what will be the impact 5 10 15 years to come I think that other corporations other companies will watch what we’re doing with the Oreos and they should be inspired to do the same thing with other schools if other companies are mirroring what I think is a prototype between Harlem Park and the Oreos then we’re going to have a revolution in Baltimore City and people will be talking about us because of the good things we’ve done students from har Elementary Middle School are ready to get tonight’s G underway for me there’s a lot of room to be able to give and care and take care of our communities that we play in for us as team members and teammates and um watching Kyle Gibson last year be a great example of what it’s like to uh give back to a community and how a community responds to that a lot of us took a liking to it and took a initiative in our own lives thank you guys for coming and donating this is this is awesome we’re citizens of or we live in Baltimore we support the shelter we give them monthly and to read your story man I appreciate you guys stepping up I I know I know you guys bring donations a little more regularly than most but thank this isn’t your home we appreciate it no I I love being able to give back so thanks for coming guys and donating it’s cool to be able to be involved in our community see what’s going on uh and you’ll learn so much more about how awesome Baltimore is this city is just incredible they come up come and show up every night um so it’s the least we can do um to be able to do what you know give back in the way we can first pitch on the ground a short stop and the sweetless fruit is over ends in St Louis the Cardinal sweep the Orioles who are swept in the regular season for the first time in two [Music] years every team has series like this the Orioles just haven’t had one since May 2022 at Detroit just one of those Series where nothing seems to go right everyone was pissed off but at the same time like feel like a lot of guys were kind of just could breathe a little bit it was kind of weird it was it was a weird energy in the clubhouse we weren’t happy that we got swept but it felt like the guys were like maybe relieved it was over um it was a lot of talk around the streak our team likes to win uh we’re competitive and our guys don’t give up and so more so than just the um the idea of it I think our guys just don’t like getting beat our guys compartmentalize so well and so for us our goal is a lot bigger than just not getting swept in the regular season it’s making it to the postseason and and uh and going as far as we can and winning a World Series that’s that’s our ultimate goal following a Sagi Series in St Louis Baltimore arrives on the Southside looking to rebound from their series sweep tonight the Orioles will square off against the Chicago White Sox opening a 4 game series that’ll carry us through the Memorial Day weekend I don’t know if it necessarily was it was a big deal that they got swept I think it was just the reality of what that sweep represented which is you can lose two or three games in a row and a win in coming right around the corner and so you lose three games against St Louis you don’t get very many base runners you get one home run when you’ve been hitting a bunch and then you go to Chicago and the offense starts up again the pitching starts up again drilled the left field he hit it pretty well did Mato get it he did a three-run shot to left center field PGE Mato is hit number three W’s going a swing and a line drive to the Gap and left field down for a diving attempt and it’s a trap by Ben and tendi into score is oarn Santander on his heels the throw to his plate not in time cower is back out near the wall he leaps up and it is caught Colton cower makes the Game ending [Applause] catch if that’s not big league I don’t know what is wow the Orioles come to Chicago for four and they take them off they come to the South side and they broom the sucks that’s how you finish off a road trip obviously disappointing in St Louis Orioles get swept for the first time in 106 series boy they make up for we were able to kind of transfer that energy into Chicago and uh go and sweep another team um I don’t know many teams that um I’ve been a part of that after we get swept go into another series and sweep the team that we’re facing next like shows the energy that we have that you know when we’re not happy about something we’re going to bring it the next night and it’s it’s cool to be a part of a ball club that that has that fight in them here is the O’s upcoming schedule now it’s about to get tough for the Orioles 33 games in the next 35 days the road ahead Red Sox Braves one the best teams of baseball Phillies are the best team of baseball Yankees the top team in the American lid coming into today and then you got your Texas Rangers defending World Series chip the combined winning percentage of those teves is 590 and so for the Orioles they going to be stepping up in weight class starting soon everyone looks at the season beforehand and uh you know you Circle this part on the calendar a little bit knowing that like this is the part that you’re going to have to grind a little bit and knowing how many games we got in this stretch um you just mentally you you get ready for it and I think our guys are built for it a lot of tough teams in the stretch too so um really got to focus and um our guys are our guys are ready for it tonight the Orioles begin a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays unfortunately the news was not good today for the Orioles as it was announced that John means and Tyler wells will miss the duration of the year it’s rough news for this Orioles team that is about to go into a month of June where they have only one day off I think usually baseball teams try to go into spring training with eight or nine starting pitching options and now we’re down a couple um and uh you know fortunately I think our staff did a good job um finding a guy like Suarez who’s pitching tonight and we have other pitchers in in Triple A um that we’re looking at I still feel pretty good about um the starting pitching options that we have at the moment but we’ll obviously um monitor things and continue to see what happens both internally and externally you know we knew this would be sort of The Gauntlet of our regular season we’ve hit a rough patch here and there we’ve had some pitching injuries having to tap into some organizational depth a little bit more aggressive than you would hope hopefully um we can get through this and uh you know remain in a competitive spot and get into a little easier patch of schedule where there’s some more rest hit in the air deep right field sends Rosario back at the track looking up it’s a grand slam for adley Rond make it his second one of the Year oh those two out walks his 13th Homer It’s a grand slam and the Orioles have blown it up it is now 9-2 Orioles have looked tremendous in Tampa they’ve played against them recently you know 10 times I want to say in the last last 10 days but this is the first time they could actually sweep Tampa in a Four game series in their own building when you look at this Orioles team they’re more well-rounded than I think a lot of people thought we knew this offense had a chance to be very Dynamic uh but the pitching staff has been terrific um the starters are third in major league in ra the relievers are fourth in ra uh they score runs at the beginning of the game they have the most runs scored through the uh seventh eth and Ninth innings in all of Major League Baseball they did that the last two days they scored nine runs in the seventh through the ninth inning to just kind of open those games up um so honestly they’re so well-rounded that they can beat you in a lot of ways a massive series by the Baltimore Orioles they complete a franchise first four game sweep here at Tropicana Field and they can head home very very happy after a very long and Tough Turf fill road trip through Toronto and Tampa Bay I mean this was a series that you just put an exclamation point on how good of a ball Club you are right there when you come in here and you take four from this raised Team every time we see Tampa Bay because of the way last season came down to the final game and it was Orioles Rays it built a natural rivalry between these two instantaneously that has carried over into this year and it’s been been really cool to go down into Tampa and to be able to do that in a place where it plays a little funky you know you have the dingy ceilings pop-ups can be tricky especially when you’re throwing rookies out there who haven’t seen a lot of reps in that field um they’re not to be underrated and again you don’t lose the postseason in June but when you’re picking up in sweeping division opponents yeah you’ll take that boost every time the pitching really picked up uh in May the slack at 2.93 er right there uh and and certainly we know you can win big time anytime you pitch like that yeah the Orioles are pitching really well and they’re really beating division opponents that is usually a good combination for Success Orioles wrap up their swing against the American League East going 10 and four and now the focus shifts to the National League East as the Orioles welcome in the Atlanta Braves for the first of a three game series the 02 pitch stroked at the Deep left center field racing after it is kelic will this one have enough you bet it will first and that back and Jorge Matel with a weaver into the O pin hello Jorge no score another one two pitch swing and to miss strike three on a breaking ball in the dirt Ozuna gives himself up and pic’s first strike out in this ballpark comes against one of the toughest hitters in baseball this year swing in to miss strike three sweeper he brought it back and Harris out in front of it seven strikeouts for Kade pich and the Braves leave two and it’s six shutout Innings from The Young left-hander Kate poic what a performance in his home debut and cower on the first pitch unloads into center it’s high it’s deep it’s gone and Colton cower Off the Bench for defense may have just wanted at the plate and arus smacks it into Center Mullins On The Run makes the play and that’ll do it it’s a 4-2 final Craig Kimbrell closes it out and the Orioles playing their 15th series of the Year good test for us uh early in the season just being able to kind of see where we’re at get uh some good experience against those type of teams that uh playoff caliber teams so um yeah I mean excluding the off days uh I feel like it’s a good test for us and um once we get once we get through this then I feel like we’ll be in a good position H the biggest home stand of the Season continues with maybe the biggest series of the season so far it’s Baltimore and Philly separated by 98 miles on I 95 and by one game in the standings the second and third best records in Major League Baseball deep to right the catcher rapael Mar out toward the wall and C onew offering that’s Tomahawk to left field do moving back he’s on the track in for the great wall and it is gone the Orioles have tied it up Tony taters picked the perfect time to of the score breaking ball HED him strike three called they had a lot of fans here we had a lot of fans here and it was kind of like they’re clashing in the stand so it was pretty cool playing in that environment and then ultimately one in the series was u fun as well San there smokes it right field way way way out of here a tie game on a loud swing from Anthony sandir Matteo Bluffs two clobber right field this one’s not coming back holy cow what a Hummer [Applause] [Music] and this one’s fair this one’s blasted out toward the bullpen lead off home run Gunner oh wow a one-1 pitch clobber center field Brandon Marsh can watch this one Sail Out of Here the Milkman delivers adley rushman first pitch bottom three deep center field they got a another wow oh a first pitch assault from rman hit in the air right fielded pretty deep castiano is chasing this one back another home run the first time ever A team’s hit four home runs off Zack Wheeler in the same game the Philly series at at Canyon yards here in June was probably one of my best uh memories uh being here with Orioles so far just great summer weather Great baseball great teams great fan bases that are really passionate about these teams and then we had a full-blown Air Show going on in the background too so it’s just a really cool weekend here in Baltimore and it just showed a lot of the potential that camon yards brings to the city is this Heaven no it’s Baltimore we’re on the way to the LEGO store uh at the Rockefeller Center special guest Dean special guest Dean Ker [Music] Legos all right well you know what I’m going leave yall to it I’m G oh and it is Captain gunar Henderson this fits me perfectly Go and show the back oh and we got the number on the back look at that explain your home run nod to yeah so if you look at uh pirates of the Caravan when Jack Sparrow does his wave to his fellow Pirates is this that right there so I incorporate that in my home run that’s what I do whenever I wait to the bull penis you know we spend a lot of time around each other on the field you know before the game in in the clubhouse whatever it may be um maybe inside jokes or you know banter or whatever sometimes those things turns turn into handshakes guys just like they like having fun like they they look for ways to like have fun every single day and um I think it’s just one of those things that you try and develop those like individual connections with everyone and I think right now I got like five but um I feel like Gunner has one with every single person on the team right now which I’m like I don’t know how he how he does [Music] it me Irv and Dean we all have the Pirates of the Caribbean uh the when Jack Sparrow holds up the jar dirt uh that’s a that’s a funny one I look forward to that one every day I really like mining with Gunners it’s I don’t know how it came about but it’s just like you know it’s like the Finding Nemo like Finn Noggin and that’s it like it’s super simple but like I think it’s hilarious it’s a small tidbit that says a lot about the guys and kind of just their commitment to each other Yankee stadium is the sign of one of the year’s most anticipated series it’s only mid June but it’s going to feel like a lot later in the season than that the Orioles and the Yankees have been the beasts of the East this season Kyle bradish uh this morning had Tommy John surgery in uh Dallas with Dr Meister uh with an internal brace uh UCL reconstruction and uh he gave us everything he had and um we’re going to miss him and uh we’re going to take really good care of him and um get him back to full strength with everything in our power and I can’t wait for that and for him to have this bind up next man up is kind of thrown around a lot um I think one thing that we kind of skip over is that like it hurts like you know you don’t want to see your boys go down um you know I love those guys we grind together every day go Spring train together keep up with each other in the off season aside from that there is still a job to do you know we have a game the next day you know we have to continue the journey and um you know we know those guys are there in spirit and ohar on two strikes one hopping over the fence and Ryan Oar delivers again with two strikes a Looper out toward shallow center field nobody will get to it and the Orioles reclaim the lead and the 10th 65 right there strike three Dylan Tate freezes him on a sweeper and the strikeout puts an end to this one it goes to the Orioles the scene from the Yankee Stadium in New York New York the and Yanks have split the first two games in this rubber match of this entertaining series and oarn puts it in play to Center for a the base hits rins and repeat Ryan O’er bollet Fly ball into deep right field at the wall and gone the Cedric Mullen show continues Mount Castle down to third that’s a fair ball inside the bag headed for the left field Corner Rutman trying to make it three and he is in there well ahead of the throw it is officially a bronx beat down to beat at Atlanta uh Philadelphia and New York three of the very best teams in baseball three World Series contenders in three consecutive serieses I mean you know we wouldn’t have expected that and it might have been our finest stretch of the season so far I think is really good for us to to stack up against some national teams Cedric Mullins is there and it’s an absolute bludgeoning a beat down in the boogy down Bronx the Orioles win it by a dozen [Applause] [Music] and the Orioles are going to head back to Camden Yards after a road trip where they win a big series against the Yankees but can’t put it together against Houston we have the right group the right mindset to when we’re tired to pick each other up when we’re not going well or not throwing the ball well not hitting well we’re going to pick each other up um it’s a tough stretch of games and a line drive in the left field here Steven Quan makes the catch the game is over 108 of final the Guardians take the series and the Orioles have lost five straight for the first time in two years you can’t hold this lineup down for long it’s just too good it’s too deep there are too many right-handed and left-handed and switch options the Oriol can match up with anybody this is the right group of guys they have the right quality of character they don’t get overly emotional they don’t get too high they don’t get too low they hit every cliche in the book but sometimes cliches are used all the time for a reason when you look at what the Orioles have done so far this year that camaraderie they built last year has obviously carried over that’s what gets them through this year that’s what ultimately makes it successful and they’ve all seemed to have a really good understanding of where in June we’ve got time we’re not hitting the panic button no one else should hit the panic button you know it’s really hard to win a major league baseball game it’s really hard to win the AL East uh it’s really hard to do the things that we’re trying to accomplish um and just understand in that yeah it’s not going to go smoothly all the time it’s going to be Rocky days it’s going to be um you know it’s going to be a battle out there and uh you know good teams find a way to win games ugly and I think uh we’re pretty good at that if this was easy then every team would win but that’s not the case somebody has to lose so we have to uh you know show up every day find a win way to win a baseball game and for me it’s as simple as that 11 one cursed out swing Wings High out towards right center field heading back hill at the track Garcia is there oh my goodness it’s a slam hon Kad has ripped this one open the rookie delivers in the biggest moment he clears the bases and the Orioles with the victory Kimbrell with backto back one run saves and it’s number 436 to take hold of fifth all time as the Orioles win their fourth straight Orioles just keep winning putting a little trying to put a little distance between themselves and the Yankees the Orioles they closed out their June very strong they went 17 and 12 but it was a month where the Orioles were challenged and yet they always had an answer and they come into tonight at 53 and 31 it can be hard to have those expectations I think guys understand that you know to have that kind of pressure on you it is a privilege and don’t let yourself be overcome by it but um just you know take it and use it as confidence because we are a good team uh we have the potential to do something awesome this year we’re just going to take it one day at a time show up and uh enjoy the ride together [Music]
