Players on Unusual Teams: Edmonton Edition

  1. Duncan “I hated playing against McDavid so I played with him instead” Keith

  2. Very interesting how most of these posts include either Jussi or Olli.

    I’m not Jokinen.

  3. If Pronger is listed on here then so should Peca and Samsonov. They were there for only one season and part of the ’06 Cup run.

    Michael Peca 2005-2006: 71GP Regular Season & 24GP Playoffs

    Sergei Samsonov 2005-2006: 19GP Regular Season & 24GP Playoffs

  4. It was over two seasons but Bernie Nicholls was an odd one after all the LA playoff series through the eighties.

  5. I absolutely don’t remember Oates as an Oiler.

I remember Nilsson only because Hextall slashed him I the Cup Final

I was a only kid at the time but I always wondered why Edmonton wouls trade for Damphousse then trade him a year later

  6. These have been my favorite posts as of late…keep up the good work!!

  7. Geoff Courtnall played only 12 regular season games with the Oilers and ended up winning a cup with them in a 5 game sweep against the team that just traded him away a couple months before.

  8. Jacques Plante getting lost in Alberta and ending up on the Oilers for a spell is the most random shit

  9. He could sign for another ten years, and seeing Corey Perry in an Oilers jersey will still be weird.

  10. also joni pitkanen and lubomir visnovsky were really solid in the short time they were oilers

  11. Thanks for including Jacques Plante’s time with the Oilers from when they were in the WHA, that was really fascinating to see!

On another note, I’m surprised to learn that Mike Cammalleri and Mike Green played in the NHL as recently as 2017-18 and 2019-20, respectively.
