Thompson was a Great Pickup!
Having 2 potential #1 goalies gives the Caps some leverage in negotiating the new contracts. I also imagine they will be observing which of the 2 will stay, and which will be moved. Hopefully, the odd man out returns us some draft or player capital, and paves the way next season for Hunter Shepherd. Fans are usually over anxious for things to happen, but reality needs patience. I, too, think Logan becomes our guy, and Lindgren moves on. Logan at 27 vs Lindgren at 30 is a big factor to consider. Let's Go Caps!
Thompson was a great get. Capitals can really do ut this upcoming season. 50 ovie goals. 75 pld points or more. Much more good stuff. Gotta go for the cup.
I honestly don't think he'd want to be limping to the record at 41. Would absolutely diminish his legacy. He gets it in 2 seasons and if not c'est la vie. It would also hurt the Caps long term. It's possible we won't even have Carlson. His contract ends the same time as Ovi. If he doesn't get it in these 2 seasons I want to believe he'll do the right thing and retire from the NHL. If he wants to go play in the KHL that would be great. His wife is Russian too and I'm sure they'd like their sons to experience Russian culture while they're still young. Of course ignoring the political situation.
