Curious what other Knicks fans think about the 99 team?
If Ewing was healthy, do we think we could have beaten the Spurs in the finals?
Also, I was thinking how this team would fair in todays NBA? With the focus on the three nowadays, our guys Ward, Houston, Spree, Childs, LJ.. You have to think they would have been shooting more, with their clip getting better and better.
With Spree and Alan acting as wing players in todays game, LJ being able to get inside more without the clogged lane. This team was one of my favorite rosters…

This was my favorite roster. If Ewing was totally healthy maybe win in game 7.
I think the Spurs would have beaten us, regardless of Ewing’s health. Pat was a shell of his former self by then (he was never the same after shattering his wrist in December of 97).
It would have been closer, but we still would have lost
Chemistry was poor to start the season but by the end it was one of the best Knicks teams of all time.
Pat at that point of his career wouldn’t have been enough – also, that team caught fire and played well above themselves which may not have happened if the teams focus point was an aged Ewing.
The year that should have been ours was the bullshit suspensions against the Heat. Then Ewing hurt his wrist and was never the same
That season remains my favorite memory as a Knicks fan. They were obviously better than an 8 seed. A 100% healthy Ewing would have given us a fighting chance, but the Knicks pessimist inside me says we still would have lost in 6 or 7.
Can you guys believe Chris Dudley was a starting center for a finals series?
That was my favorite team of all time and despite my biases no chance we beat the Spurs with a healthy Ewing. He was well past his prime at that point and even though we desperately needed the additional size against the twin towers it wouldn’t be enough.
