So happy we got Hintz to make up for that Gurianov pick
My last (print) Draft guide. If anyone has 2016 let us all know, if not I’ll post some other old print material for us to waste the off-season with. I wrote the teams that drafted them above each player (cut off in the pictures) but only two got notes: 1) above Hanifin “To Car – steal!” 2) Above Zboril “Bos – WTF!”
There’s actually a lot of serviceable NHLers to downright great players that came from this draft.
Ahh yes, Zach Senyshyn at #47 for their rankings.
Barzal at 15 is actually just a damn steal given he’s a top 10 here
Sebastian Aho
Wow what a loaded draft class! Too bad the Bruins didn’t have 3 consecutive first round picks that year because we probably would be such a wagon right now teams would be so afraid to face us.
Has to be one of the best draft classes ever. I think Kaprisov was late pick in this draft too
Step 1: Lose the lottery for McDavid
Step 2: Draft Eichel
Step 3: Lose Eichel too.
Step 4: ????????
Step 5: Win the Cup.
absolutely thrilled to be a Sabre. /s
Jacob Larsson “he has all the ability, but he’s weak as a noodle right now”. 🫠😂
The year of the Bruins fumble
In my opinion it already is, but the 2015 draft will go down as the greatest draft of all time.
Hot take: if you want to know if a player is NHL ready, you can ignore scouting reports, the international junior tournaments, the draft, training camp, and preseason completely. Just tune in for the beginning of the season and you’ll know just as much about how prospects are performing at the NHL level as anyone else who has been watching everything else like a hawk. Seeing Roope Hintz outside of the top 50 meanwhile Paul Bittner is in the top 15…that, on its own, is enough for me to basically disregard prospect rankings as they pertain to NHL performance. There are just too many variables to be confident in predicting stuff like that.
whoever put Aho outside top100 has 0 iq
This draft will rival the 03 draft for number of solid and star players
These posts have been really cool. It’s interesting to look back at these rankings and where these guys landed.
Yeah this draft class is stacked.
Damn they really didn’t like Roope
Honestly kinda shocking Aho is not even in the top 100 yet got picked at 35
Such an amazing draft. Miss those Strome or Marner debates haha
Jeremy Bracco: “Skilled points machine soured scouts with his attitude”
Yeah that more or less sums it up
I have a feeling that 2023 is going to look a lot like this in 8 years. Monster draft class.
Still crazy to me how low Roope Hintz was ranked in the draft. Jim Nill and the Stars scouting team really hit a home run with that pick.
Where the heck is Sebastian Aho, or am I blind?
About Hintz: “I don’t think he’ll ever be a 50-point guy”
Hasn’t been below 50 since the Covid seasons.
Mikko at 10 was such a steal, sometimes I just marvel at Sakic’s hockey mind
“Lucky Oilers can’t botch it now, right?”
They did, in fact, botch it by trading away the #16 pick for Griffin Reinhart… the Isles ended up taking Matthew Barzal at #16.

Reinhart hasn’t played NHL/AHL hockey since 2018.
