  1. Im ofc happy about Raymond as a Wings fan, but I would like to mention that the future is looking quite bright for the Habs. And who knows? Maybe they can get some good cup runs in a few years.

  2. Unless the wings become a legit contender this Raymond contract is just foolish.

The wings defense and goalie situation is not improving because of Raymond making 8 mill. They could have just traded him to improve the defense and / or goalie situation in the offseason and not had to pay him the 8 mill.

Very few players on non playoff teams are worth 5 mill or more. Those teams can lose with anyone. Even if you take a team like the leafs they pay a ton of cap and they not a legit contender. It is just wasteful.

The wings could have done with Raymond what the sharks did trading Timo Meier and get a nice return when you know the team is not good enough yet anyway.

If someone said back to me that even if the wings dont win they can trade Raymond for something nice later but it still wastes 8 mill of cap every year until you trade him. 8 mill of cap in a cap dump trades would give the wings something nice every year.

  3. Most Habs fans are not expecting the playoffs. Just want too see the future of this team keep improving their numbers. For players like Dach and Laine to stay healthy. If that happens we should be in the wildcard race till the end. Not eliminated way earlier. If we do get in it will be a bonus.

  4. people who criticize 8m for 8 for Raymond are the same dummies who criticized 8.5 for jack hughes when it was signed.
This is how contrats for young elite talent work. you overpay the first year or two, take some risk, and then enjoy 5-6 years of underpaying an absolute stud.

  5. I was kinda expecting a bridge deal for Raymond, something like 3×7-7.5 mil. 8×8.075 is pretty solid for a 1st line winger. Especially with the cap continuing to rise and he might get even better, his 2nd half of the season was really good

  6. It’s interesting but not surprising that it’s taken this long to get contracts to these kids on the Wings. Remember, Yzerman learned his GM skills from Ken Holland and definitely doesn’t want to be Holland 2.0 and give out bad overpriced contracts. Good on him.

  7. I feel bad for Ovie….I'm not a Caps fan at all, but I like the guy and the player he is ever since he's been around (and give him the 2004-2005 season, a complete 2012-2013 season) and no covid shortened seasons (2) and I'm pretty sure he would have beaten Wayne's 894 goals already. Hoping he recovers quickly.

Habs news on the other hand 🤯, so damn glad, a second line with a healthy Dach, healthy Laine and say Josh Roy would be 🔥

  8. Raymond was one of like 3 players who not only showed up every game by had the drive to win every shift. Kinda confused why this took so long if this is the number they settled on.

  9. Only thing Ovi lifted in the off season were hamburgers, getting old is no fun. Even if you put the work in injuries are much easier to come by.
