They timed the rebuild perfectly for contract negotiations for streaming rights!
lol
Used to watch every game religiously. Went down to about 100 last season and then about 40-50 this season. Boring product to watch right now. Same thing as 07-08, however, back then you had Pujols and co. So it felt worth it still.
Yeah it’s a boring ass team. If Edmonds is on the broadcast it’s actual punishment to watch.
I’m out of market. Not renewing mlb . tv again. Also dropping the regional sports channels from DirecTV for when they played the Reds or Cubs.
Been a fan for about 50 years now, can’t take it anymore.
I’ve never been as disinterested in baseball in my life as I have the last 1.5 years
Also, it says this doesn’t include streaming figures so that has to skew the data a bit
Ratings in my house plummeted to 0 when I had to have a cable package that included Bally. Fuck them in the neck. If you make a deal with the devil, you’ll have hell to pay.
When the Season is essentially decided in a bad result during June lots of folks have just lost interest. Not much fun watching them lose.
The blackouts are ruining the sport. I moved to South Carolina from Chicago thinking that I was in the clear of most blackouts. Boy was I wrong! I am now blacked out of mostly all east coast teams they play and Atlanta. I think Florida teams as well. This year was the first year I didn’t renew MLBtv because of this issue. I used to watch every game that I could and now I don’t watch at all. GREAT JOB by MLB at growing the sport!
Perhaps it would be nice if they had commentators who people actually enjoyed listening to. The Cardinals are about to learn that there’s only so much slop you can feed to people before they get sick of it.
Its a mix of the cardinals being sub par and all the broadcasting rights. That was just isolated to the cardinals. Every team had issues with fans trying to see their team.
This is hardly a surprise. Contractual issues with several cable companies meant bally wasn’t available to a large portion of the cardinal’s viewing audience for most of the summer.
This seems like it was timed perfectly so the cardinals can claim poverty for a few years. As usual the St. Louis media doing the organizations job for it.
Most of us knew back in March that the cardinals weren’t going to be good and didn’t do enough to improve the team in the offseason. Even though the front office lied and said we would be good and to just “have some patience”. The fans already knew it was BS.
Can’t imagine them getting any better with current leadership.
Well that’s what happens when you force half of your viewers to watch on quite possibly the worst app in existence
Ever since I moved out of STL I had MLBtv. I’m not renewing next year. I may have watched a dozen games this year.
This might be the first year where I didn’t even waste time sailing the high seas to watch a single game :/
They were boring. Also, I really don’t care for Chip Caray. He’s just…the sports broadcasting equivalent of oatmeal. I miss Danny Mac.
“You don’t fuck with the Jesus, man.”
MLB tv too expensive and we don’t have cable. Takes care of that.
I disconnected from cable last year, and I haven’t looked back
I’ll subscribe again when they put something on the field worth watching
I already have subscription fatigue as it is.
Personally went from watching every single game to maybe 2 a week on MLBtv
I live in the market, but cant pay for the games because I don’t want to buy live tv. I’d love to pay monthly to watch, but not adding a $100 bill each month for it.
Shock me. And per one commenter on another post warning other commenters NOT to non-renew season tix? That’s not the only problem now.
Blackouts ruined it for me. 15 year mlbtv subscriber but couldn’t watch 25% of the games without additional subscriptions. Done.
No shit?
Y’all aren’t going to like this, but there really isn’t anything special about our fanbase if the second things get “bad” (83 wins, gasp!) everyone tunes out.
It was a good fanbase because of the team’s success. That’s all there is to it.
Well, judging by the fact I physically can’t watch about 1/3 of the games might be part of it.
I can’t ever watch them despite being a big fan. The most I can do is listen to KMOX broadcast from Memphis.
This is part in due to the fact that the team has been trending downhill for years and the fans are sick of the front office saying the same thing year after year. Also has to do with the fact that the games are actually hard to get access to nowadays
I can’t believe people didn’t want to watch Nolan Gorman strike out and Paul Goldschmidt ground into double plays.
LOL
I have been regularly unable to watch the Cardinals since the start of the 2021 season. I know the ship has turned in the wrong direction. However, I’d love nothing more than to be able to just get home from work every night and watch a Cardinals game either on the TV or on my phone. I’ve been starved of that and that is killing my passion and knowledge of this team far more than any downhill slide in performance and on-field product.
I share an mlb tv login with someone and I barely used it this season. They dropped 2 of 3 to the White Sox early on and it never really got better.
They’re boring, not competitive and not fun to watch. Completely understandable that ratings dipped
I honestly think I live in an alternate reality than most of you. This season was still plenty of fun to watch.
Obsessive fan that will never give up and will always tune in no matter the record. That being said, I paid for every single streaming service that could possibly exist to be able to watch every game across the country….and watched 3 cardinals games. Cannot stand listening to Edmonds when I have John and Rickey at my disposal
Well… I can’t watch them legally so….
Sell the team Nitwitts🤦🏻
I’d still watch, oh, but I’m blacked out even 3 hours from the park.

*blackouts the entire fanbase*
“Why isn’t anyone watching?!?”
That’s because their season ended.
