Dodgers win 8th World Series, Will history be unkind to Aaron Judge? | MLB | FIRST THINGS FIRST

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in a 4-1 series gentleman’s sweep, claiming their 8th World Series and first since 2020. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes ask if the Dodgers are on the precipice of a dynasty, and if history will be unkind to Aaron Judge following his poor overall series and Game 5 error.

  1. How can anyone say the Astros didn't cheat the Dodgers? Darvish said immediately after game 6, "It seemed like they knew every pitch that was coming". Not a coincidence.

  2. I just lost a lot of respect for Nick Wright. To say the Cheating Astros "beat" the Dodgers … umm, no. The Dodgers earned that championship, and a bunch of cowards stole it and pretend its theirs. It is more accurate to say the championship scorecard this last decade is 3-1 Dodgers than it is to say they are tied 2-2.

  3. Lest we forget: The Astros only won one WS in the last 10 years legitimately. They cheated to win 2017. Also, can't you have more than one dynasty at a time? I would say within the NL, or within the NL West, the Dodgers have unquestionably been the most dominant team. Couldn't you argue that they are a dynasty within their league or division? To narrowly define a dynasty as a team that is the best team in all of Baseball for multiple years ignores the dominance that they may show within their league, something that should not be ignored and deserves attention. So I would call the Dodgers a dynasty within the NL.

  4. Always wanting to move the post. They fail if they dont win, now its they fail if they dont win every single year. Always need a talking point, and none of these people are ever consistent.

  5. Cheated out of one in 2017, and people contend the red Sox were cheating in 2018 as well so maybe 2 WS rings were taken from them. Even so, that makes 4 WS appearances in 8 years.

  6. I was hoping The Yankees played The Mets. And The Mets won. What it came down to was… The Dodgers played Baseball Plus. The Yankees played Baseball Minus. It was like The Yankees won that game five different times? Then Lost. Way to Go Dodgers I Guess. Great baseball. frankny66yroldwhitekid Yankee/Met fan

  7. If the Astros did not cheat then the Dodgers would have 3 rings during this run and 4 world series appearances with 7 nlcs appearances and 11 division titles and 12 postseason appearances. Definitely would go down as one of the greatest dynasties of the modern era for sure.

  8. Two things in defense of Aaron Judge: (1) he made the first error of the inning and that should not, in and of itself, have led to the other errors and poor Yankees defensive play in the remainder of the 5th; (2) The Yankees went ahead 6 to 5 in the 6th and could have retained that lead. But the Yankees need a scape goat and it just might prove to be Aaron Judge.

  9. Aaron is the new Barry Bonds. Arrogant , good in the regular season, and bad under playoff pressure. I can understand being pitched around and not getting hits , but errors in the outfield on mental mistakes? And those errors leading to 5 unearned runs in an elimination game? It's like Barry Bonds misplaying the ball in the 1991 NLCS. The guy just didn't focus when it mattered. That's not luck, that's mental crumbling to pressure.

  10. First take is my favorite sports show ever behind the OG PTI nobody does it like these guys I hope this show stays together the chemistry is outta this world 🪩

Major fan since mid football season 2022

  11. If you bring up astros 17 championship you gotta remember that the dodgers took them 7 games while being cheated on, this more validation for the dodgers then the astros

  12. Disgusting Nick mentions the Astros and said they beat the Dodgers in the WS…. But didn’t mention anything about them cheating. Please don’t ever talk baseball again. We haven’t forgot that you picked the Yankees to win.
