Post-Game Press Conference: JB Bickerstaff | Pistons @ Raptors | 11.15.24
like the Raptors kind of controlled the tempo in that third quarter how did you see the energy change once the fourth quarter began uh I mean I I want to give a ton of credit uh to windale and Marcus um I thought they came in the game and gave us huge energy in that second half um you know we don’t win this game if they don’t play the way that they did so a ton of credit to them you know guys you know whose number haven’t been called all that often uh but the past two games they’ve been uh relied upon uh and they produced for us uh you know credit to those guys the work they put in in so that they are prepared for the moment uh and I think that was the shift to be honest with you I think those guys gave us a little bit of a Lifeline uh with the juice and helped us change the game is that kind of a nice feeling for you too to see young guys coming in like that inspiring the vets and some of the you know the starters yeah I mean that’s what team is right and and that’s what we’ve always tried to focus on uh is there’s not you know the oneman gang so to speak mindset like we want to be a collective uh and everybody we have on this roster We Believe can contribute and can help us just got to be ready when there’s numbers called so like it’s enjoyable as a coach to watch young guys seize the moment um because of the training and the time that they put in when nobody’s watching JB Wendell’s uh I think he had eight minutes before Wednesday and I guess he’s he’s flown under the radar maybe but just to see him come in and perform the way he has what have you seen from him through Camp until now for him to be ready for I mean window’s a good basketball player um you know he’s intelligent he defends he can rebound from his position uh he can make shots shots uh he’s a well-rounded basketball player uh you know again it’s just hard you know Night by night everybody doesn’t get the opportunity uh but you know we believe in his talent and he’s shown that through preseason through training camp he’s earned the trust of the coaches uh so when we put him in the you know in the game uh we’re comfortable to just hang on to to this win I think six for 27 for three my laptop can’t connect to the Internet so I’m not positive even worse than that 8 for 38 8 for 38 but what did you see from the team to help them overcome that tonight I mean we defended um in the fourth quarter we gave up 17 points so you know if you can go out and get stops and put that pressure on a defense uh after you get stops you know that’s where we you know want to hold our hat that’s who our identity is is we want to be able to get stops on command and I thought we did that in the fourth quarter uh coach yeah it’s not been since the seasonal start but if you put it in perspective what are the the biggest change or that that you as a coach have implemented for for the team to yeah to get more wins this season oh I mean it’s not about you know us it’s like it’s the Buy in from the guys um to want to improve to want to compete at a high level and to want to do it you know as a unit um you know that’s the most fun for us as coaches is just like we’re not perfect by any means uh but our guys are so committed to one another and just compete so hard uh and trust each other so much um like that’s what team team is about and when you’re starting you know a program or the foundation of it like that’s the building block of any successful team is you know how connected our guys how willing are they to sacrifice for one another uh and our guys have proven to do that in Spades appreciate
