What do the Atlanta Falcons need to fix during the bye week?
Can the Atlanta Falcons rebound to playoff form? Host Aaron Freeman and guest Allen Strk (@TheFalcoholicLive) share their biggest takeaways from the team’s Week 11 loss to the Denver Broncos and look forward to what needs fixing during their bye week. The middle of the Falcons defense was a glaring concern against the Broncos and the healthy return of linebacker Troy Andersen may hold the key to fixing it. Aaron shares why he was let down by the team’s offensive performance against the Broncos and if the team can rebound against quality opponents after their bye.
Later, they look at three keys to getting better play out of both sides of the ball after the bye week. On defense, they look towards healthy returns of Andersen and cornerbacks Dee Alford and Mike Hughes, and the team looking to use more dime defense to hide struggling linebacker Nate Landman. On offense, they focus on diversify the team’s personnel packages, a healthy return of center Drew Dalman, and making better usage of tight end Kyle Pitts.

If I make my fantasy playoffs I pray that my glorious pookie bear king Mooney carries me to a fantasy championship 🙏🙏
You can’t fix all our problems in one offseason but what sets a solid foundation is dominating the front on both sides of the ball. Invest all our premium assets this offseason in the front 7 and OL.
Kirk was a bad signing💯tied the falcons hands. 2 years of a mediocre team. Penix better be good or Arthur Blank in trouble.
Bad coaching💯 Defense plays too far off the ball. Use Ellis and Simmons as rushers sometimes. Put Algier and Robinson on the field at the same time one could be an extra blocker or check down.
Stark is the first person online that has pointed out the reason why Atlanta pass rush is poor. It's because of the rush Lanes. I have been saying that for eons. They have the talent there's just no creativity in the way they scheme up the rush. This is entirely on the DC and he has not been able to do that and it is now week 11. At this point I don't think he can scheme up creative rush lanes. They need to go back to a more inclusive defensive play calling system, like the one last year when Ryan Nielsen was there. Nielsen, Jimmy Lake, and the defensive line coach, were the ones calling place together, and Ryan Nielsen was the one to make the final selection. It was play calling by committee. I don't think that they're doing that with Jimmy Lake. I think he's taking on the play calling responsibilities entirely on his own. And if so that needs to change back to more of a collaborative play calling on defense. I would hope that one of the reporters would ask him this question in his next interview. I would like to find out if he is doing all the play calling on his own, this is not what was done with Nielsen in his first time calling player last year. And if he answers that he is calling the plays on his own, then have a follow-up question asking if you would like to make it more collaborative. For he needs help 😅
With regards to the offense. When we have games when we force Bijan the ball. And don't use both of the running backs equally. Those are the games we lose. Algeria did not touch the ball possibly at all in this game. Cuz I stopped watching after the third quarter. And he did not have one snap on offense in that timespan.
Atlanta's offense is strongest off of play action . So it's important to establish the run. And establish it early. The strongest chance they have at a good run game, early in games, is using both of the running backs equally. And having both of them on the field in more formations throughout drives.
I agree aarom just get me to the playoffs
Defense :
I really don't know what you can do if it's both schematic and talent. Great teams are built in the draft room/ coaching .
You mind as well let teams do what they want between the 20s and just be fresh in the red zone and try and hold to FGs ( part of me – being serious smh).
Offense:
Run the ball to open up the pass…sorry to state the obvious but lol.
Make Kyle Pitts watch tape on Johnu Smith . Pitts should be a focal point from defenses that falcons are plsying . He just isn't, can't separate and its really a problem considering what he's supposed to be . There should be games where he has 10-11 catches and that in itself opens up the offense. That's a bleeping pipe dream.
We need better players
