Florida has lost five of the past six games since winning seven straight. The Panthers have dropped three straight. Washington has lost its past two without Alex Ovechkin.

Saturday, the Panthers took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Carter Verhaeghe off a pass from Anton Lundell; they led 2-1 going into the second on a goal by Aleksander Sasha Barkov.

But the Avs scored four to kick off the second and the Panthers never recovered.

Florida slo got goals from Sam Reinhart — he has 16 to lead the NHL and his 13-game scoring streak is second longest in franchise history — as well as one from Lundell.
