Alot of people forget that andrew friedman and blake snell go back to the days in tampa when both were early in their careers. rumour has been going around here in L.A. that andrew friedman and the dodgers were wanting to bring snell in for a few years now and even looked into him last year at the deadline but the giants didnt want to deal him to the dodgers

The Dodgers did not convince shohei otani to defer the money on his contract. It was actually shohei himself who went to the Dodgers and suggested it. He did this so the Dodgers would have money to surround shohei with more talent which they have expertly done. Is right tomorrow Please, for the love of God, get this right you two morons!
Of course the Dodgers aren't finished this off-season. They are lacking corner outfielders and a full-time shortstop and a high-leverage bullpen arm, and have to address these deficiencies. I believe they are done with starting pitching, especially if they land Roki Sasaki.

Deffered money is a response to the ridiculous luxury tax which punishes teams for investing. And thus they have to find creative ways to reduce their AAVs.

Tampa Bay has taken the Money Ball model and have been more successful than most teams in the last 10-15 years. They have had to develop a ton of players in that time span and they have been very competitive.
I don’t know if they are, but it seems like MLB should step up and and fork over some $$$ to help TB with the Trop. Or maybe every team could donate 1-2M to help fix it.
