When will the Chicago Cubs front office stop acting like “Dorks of the Week”? #mlb #cubs #freeagency
Cubs President Jed Hoyer paid $29 million for Matthew Boyd, a pitcher who they’re “wishing and hoping” will be a healthy addition to the rotation. If you’re not willing to go after Juan Soto, why not spend big on a top line free agent like Max Fried to bolster the pitching staff? Cody Delmendo is flabbergasted that Ken Rosenthal is calling Tom Ricketts and his front office the “Dorks of the Week” and calls the Cubs out in this clip from the CHGO Cubs Podcast.

Theo’s coffee boy Jed should’ve been fire two seasons ago
I'm tired of Chicago teams. I'm just done hoping someone decides to be a big market team. I'm done hoping. My money & time is better spent elsewhere
They clearly see something in Boyd. They’ve invested a lot into their pitching labs recently, and they think that they can reinvent him at 33 years old. The scouts telling the Cubs to target him aren’t stupid, and while a huge overpay has happened before with players like Smyly, I want to trust their judgement and see how it works out.
