It’s like our defense had a phobia of the middle of the field.

Im no secondary guru but it seems to me there's a big problem with our defense handling screens.

They were all hurt and Zayne Anderson played 51 snaps.
You wanna get burned deep on the outside or get gouged over the middle? We don’t have the players to cover the whole thing, and considering who was playing, they did remarkably well. If the offense played the first half like they played the second half, we wouldn’t be having this conversation
Why doesn’t Hafley simply scheme to stop all potential plays all at once? Is he stupid?
It was bend don’t break because they don’t have the CB to hang with them in man coverage! They stopped a 4th and 1 also had a INT you knew it was whoever had the ball last.
The defense sucks because Quay sucks. He’s got the Green Dot. He’s the guy who can’t hold down the middle. He’s just not a good player. The defense will never improve over the middle while he’s manning it.
Just basic crossing routes ate us up all night. Im not gonna lie, this loss kinda hurt.
When Quay Walker plays 76 plays, of course the middle is wide open.
Having to listen to all the talking heads praise the Packers for stopping sonic and knuckles and it’s like yeah, they chose to stop that in lieu of focusing on other parts of the game. They knew they had to make Goff throw and he did and it worked over and over and over

We have always sucked over the middle and especially on 3rd and medium plus.
It’s infuriating
that was a horribly called game by hafley, it was a joe barry don’t get burnt deep scheme, our db’s were 7-10 yards off the ball every snap, they coulda ran that screen all night and it would’ve worked against that defense, we need more aggressive CB play and that all starts with hafley
It was that little dump off to Gibbs every time they got a little pressure on Goff that was getting me.
Is this not just a bad combo of great PA passing because we had to honor the run mixed with just being banged up in the secondary?

In breaker after in breaker. Didn’t Goff end the game with 13 or 14 consecutive completions? Disgusting.
And Goff over the middle.

It’s almost like there was an NFL caliber team playing offense
This is the exact reason why Hafley was a dumb ass hire to begin with. Dude is uninspiring and nobody should put stock in his weekly pressers. He talks a big game in his pressers cause he knows he’s ass and is just trying stave off the critics and give people false enthusiasm. I’m also getting sick and tired of seeing stokes on the field when we have another CB in Kalen King just sitting there and I don’t care if he was a 7th round pick, at this point you got nothin to lose by playing him because he can’t be worse than stokes.
