  1. They're 7-2 under Joe Sacco which is great

In those nine games they played one team within the current playoff structure, Vancouver, who they lost 2-0 to

What has improved under Sacco these last 9 games?

    Attention to details
    Execution
    Effort
    Defensive structure
Goaltending and getting something from guys who started the year terribly (Marchand, Frederic, Coyle Geekie)

What hasn't improved since Sacco took over?

    Lack of top 6 talent
Geekie & Brazeau still in their Top 6 would be laughable come playoff time
    5×5 scoring
    Powerplay
    Penalty Kill

The stuff that hasn't improved is the stuff that's not tied to talent:

    Attention to details
    Execution
    Effort

Their deficiencies, however, are all still tied to the fact that they simply don't have enough scoring talent and no matter how well they execute, no matter how good the attention to details are and no matter what effort they put in…..

The Bruins still lack enough offensive talent to compete with the better NHL teams in the regular or the post season

The Bruins are better than the bottom 8 teams in both the Eastern and Western conference

That's why their first 20+ games their being a complete dumpster fire was so frustrating

But now they've simply moved back to what they really are

A low playoff seed that doesn't have enough talent to beat the better offensive teams come playoff time

That's what they've largely been under Don Sweeney so there's nothing new to see here

The Bruins are 25th in 5×5 scoring despite an extremely soft schedule to start the year

The Bruins are 27th in total power play goals scored

The Bruins are also 27th in total power plays goals conceded

The Bruins are tied for 31st (out of 32 teams) in short handed goals against

The Bruins are 32 out of 32 in power play% at 12%

The Bruins are 14th on the penalty kill at 79%.

The Bruins are 25th in total goals scored

The Bruins are 22nd in total goals scored against

The Bruins are what they are. It is what it is

Let's see where they're at come the end of January after a few longer road trips and when the schedule has gotten much, much tougher

I'm guessing this is what the Bruins will be all year moving forward

They'll play .650 or better versus the bottom 16 teams in the NHL

They'll play .500 or below versus the top 16 teams in the NHL

Their talent and their underlying metrics both say that's what and who the Bruins really are and that has nothing to do with Joe Sacco and everything to do with their talent level and roster construction

  2. Soto dies affect Bs- for years WE were in a city arms race!!! Not only our own sport, but competition between the teams…. pushed all orgs to do better!!!! GM down….
