Evaluating the Jake Burger Trade and the Rest of the Winter Meetings | Fish Unfiltered

Kevin Barral and Isaac Azout bring on guest Alex Krutchik, who provided on-site coverage of the just-completed Winter Meetings in Dallas. They discuss the polarizing Jake Burger trade that netted the Miami Marlins three prospects, the selection of catcher Liam Hicks in the Rule 5 Draft, the inconvenient results of the 2025 MLB Draft Lottery and renewed rumors about Jesús Luzardo being on the trade block.

  1. the Marlins prove once again, that they are not a serious organization, and Bendix is a joke. Can they win even 40 games with this team? A Veteran aye? You mean like some of their past doozeys ? Let's see….Heath Bell, Wei Yen Chen, Jose Reyes, Avisail Garcia, and this list could be at least 5 players longer

  2. Well I’m glad we got some value in the burger trade because I think if we trade more players with value we may be good in the future possibly. But I think Bendix is the best GM we’ve had in a while because he sure knows how to make trades and besides Burger was a Kim trade not Bendix. For those who are saying Bendix sucks he really doesn’t because if you think about it, the Rays are also known for trading good players away with value for good prospects in return and then having a good conveyer belt of good prospects in their system and calling them up year by year to compete every year. That’s how the dodgers have a good farm and how the Astros won the WS in 2022. So before saying Bendix is trash I would give him one more year and then see how things are going because if Sandy and Luzardo have value we may trade those 2 for good prospects as well. So our future in the Rotation should be Snelling, Perez, Noble Meyer, and etc. But I think the hitters we got in trades will actually pan out especially since we got good coaches on hitting and we’re starting to be a development for hitters now but it may change will see. For all the negativity and negative people ik where your coming from but it’s an overreaction look at how the 03 team won by trading players who had value and getting good talented players and then calling them up one by one to win. Thats how you build a winning team guys it’s that simple.

  3. every time the fans fall in love with a player, we lose them. attendance is gonna keep dropping, we are getting some good prospects but we are years away from even making the playoffs and I dont know if we be able to keep the team that long

  4. Picture a big city MLB ownership group with little regard for filling seats. A group that leverages inevitable fan apathy as an excuse for not investing adequately because the plan is to almost exclusively exploit profit-sharing and other league perks to line pockets. With no serious intent to compete or foster love with fans now or ever.
