Who should the lightning target come trade deadline?

  1. If we are looking at a pure rental, Brock Nelson could be worth a punt. He’s a proven 20-goal scorer, playoff vet, and not a defensive liability. Having him on the third line with Paul moving to the LW would be a huge luxury. It would cost a first-rounder, however.

    Outside Option:

Boone Jenner, proven 20 goal-scorer again would be fantastic on the 3rd line, signed for this season and next at a reasonable cost. Would CBJ retain? price would be high. He’s the heart and soul of that team but they are still rebuilding he is 31 now, would be a good time to cash-in.

Will Borgen as the team 3rd RHD, steady Defensive-defencemen. Can step into the top 4 if someone gets injured.

  2. Honestly other than the thin cupboard of assets to spend, the Lightning are going to be in a good spot to add at the deadline.

They’ve actually been accruing cap space for once with no one on LTIR, the special teams have been good with the current personnel, and the top of the lineup is outstanding at every position so they just need to add depth to push guys down to better spots.

Honestly just a third line forward that can score a little and a bottom-pair D that plays simple and mistake-free and they could absolutely go on a Cup run.

  3. I think someone fans are often forgetting is Isaac Howard. He’s been having a really good year at MSU and would be eligible to join us after his season. Would be a real burst of energy and skill to play either next to Cirelli or Paul. He could be a really underrated “deadline addition” that I would love to see get a chance.

  4. As for outgoing pieces, JJ Moser has been linked to the Oilers as a possible trade candidate. I hope we don’t do it

  5. Dream scenario is Brandon Saad or Alex Tuch for me personally to strengthen our forward depth

Saad is a bit on the older side at age 33 but has both the playoff experience and is a proven playoff performer, he was a healthy scratch on the weekend and reportedly on the trade block, currently makes $4.5m with this year and next remaining on his contract

Tuch who’s in his prime at 28 is the one guy who could be the most in demand player with his size and scoring ability at the Deadline if and when Buffalo waves the white flag on their season, he has not seen playoff action since arriving in Buffalo but flourished in the playoffs with Vegas early in his career, currently makes $4.75m with this year and next remaining on his contract as well

  6. Frank Vatrano as a rental if Brock Nelson’s cost is too high.  I don’t want the team to be trading away too much. No players.

  7. I feel like this is going to be one of those deadlines where we go in looking at the trade boards and end up with some completely unexpected pickups. My prediction is that the only player who remains on this iteration of the 3rd line is Nick Paul.

  8. Dylan cozens. Would take some cap shenanigans and retainments but is a 20-30 goal scorer, averages over 1.5 P/60 and is a middle six guy so he can play up and down the lineup

  9. I’m sure the money would never work, but man I always wanted Patrick Laine on the bolts, his production is down mostly due to injuries
