Do you think we’re aiming for someone in specific? It doesn’t make sense to trade our only real rim protector unless we’re getting back our center of the future. Clint’s defense and rebounding are vital for this team. His value has probably increased this season so I’d understand taking calls but this sounds much more proactive.

It means they still believe in OO
It means he’s available. Don’t see the FO trading him unless we get an actual upgrade
I’m open to trading him but he is a very good and important player for us right now. The article is paywalled but I believe the market may be relatively strong for him.
If he’s gone we still have 2 decent options at center but neither are special and both are undersized. I think trading 2 away for 1 center could work.. I could also see a package with a wing or something to get package with a backup point guard. idk.
It’s weird because in order to trade Clint you will need to probably trade him for a centre who is a good rebounder, lob finisher and rim protector. So you will need to trade Clint Capela for … Clint Capela? Unless there is a younger player who is just as good then why do it and why would that team trade a young C for Clint?
Doesn’t make sense
idk unless we got a younger option id keep him. yea every star center has shitted on us this season but wat other options do we have?
I might get downvoted but I don’t understand why we’re so hell bent on trading Clint. Our defense is a lot better when he’s on the floor. Hes playing good basketball. Unless we know for a fact we can upgrade the position, I don’t want to trade him. Do we believe in OO that much?
It’s false information. The article doesn’t say what the tweet is saying.
Clint and Matthews for Gobert and Ant?
Keep Clint and Trade OO. We can live with Clint for a few more years. Solid center. OO has showed very few signs of improving
I think that if you can get a real asset for a 30 year old center on an expiring contract in a year where you’re retooling around a core of young players then you pull the trigger on that trade. I think Clint’s been great, but if someone offers a legit asset for us moving forward (player or pick) then I think you move him
On the other hand, if you don’t get an offer like that I’d personally be in favor of keeping him through the season. He seems to be a good chemistry guy, and if he’s probably our best shot at the 5 of giving our young guys some playoff experience this season
Clint is so vital to this defense, and defense is the foundation of this team’s success. Roster moves for the sake of cap management are the cost of doing business with this squad, I guess, but just who is going to be the replacement?
Clint is an expiring contract. We all know the team probably gets worse with any trade, but the hawks can’t just let his Birds rights salary slot just leave.
It could be part of a larger, hidden plan to tank the season and secretly develop OO as our next franchise centerpiece. By offloading Capela, we weaken our defense, paving the way for a “quiet rebuild” under the guise of cap space flexibility.
But what if it’s even bigger? Some insiders (don’t ask who just trust me) speculate this move is being orchestrated by outside forces (perhaps other NBA powerhouses or even ownership groups) to create a vacuum for other Eastern Conference teams to dominate playoff seeding. The Hawks could be playing the long game, angling for a future draft pick that aligns perfectly with a generational prospect rumored to be emerging in a few years. Someone connected to Hawks’ ownership circles in some way.
So is the Capela trade really about improving the team now, or part of a shady agenda involving league politics and long term success?
