Years ago, they sold fans on the idea that they would develop young players and pay them fairly when the players developed in competent young veterans. Gimenez has 3 gold gloves and Naylor's had back to back strong years. But ownership flinched at the cost when this team is on the verge of greatness. 98 wins and an AL Championship appearance.
