Love that he’s home
Amazing move for the Pirates! Hometown hero, incredibly solid bat, and if need be they can flip him at the trade deadline for 1-2 high end prospects from a contender (possibly even top 100 if he is performing really well)! Could set them up nicely for the future

Nice to see order returned to the universe.
It’s not 2013 anymore. Pirates have to move on and spend modest money. Cutch is 38, move on. I would be less annoyed with this if they had other signings but it’s the Pirates way.

My first thought was low hanging fruit/low effort, but it’s still fine for both sides. There’s no realistic option honestly in terms of…if he wants to play, it really isn’t like the Pirates can say no. McCutchen is still good enough where it’s not like a Udonis Haslem situation, although he didn’t have a fantastic year last season, coming off an achilles, and his defensive production went from negative to unplayable. So if he’s basically a league average bat who can’t defend at all….but I kinda feel analysis is somewhat pointless. He can still hit well enough and he’s a good culture fit, so I’m happy for both sides.

This is my favorite signing of the offseason so far.
So the Pirates are done in FA now, right?
And he’ll be traded to a contender by June
He’s still playing? I feel like he’s been around since 15 years ago.
