As usual I want you all to tell me which play it is.

  1. Well the only reason for a solo homer in the fifth to be famous might be a milestone HR for a famous player? OR ELSE this is a children’s book.

  2. My first thought was “a drive into deep left field by Castellanos” but it’s the wrong score and maybe not something you’d be telling children about anyway…

  3. This is from when announcer Mike Blowers predicted before a game that Matt Tuiasosopo would hit his first big league home run into the second deck in left-center field on a 3-1 fastball from Brian Tallet during his second at bat of the night.

  4. Is this when Mike Blowers called a 3-1 homer way before the guy hit his first career homerun? I forgot the batter’s name but this is Mariners vs Blue Jays (forgot the year)

Edit: Matt Tuiasosopo (what a name) second deck homer on a 3-1 count. Mariners vs Blue Jays on 9/27/04.

  5. Ohhh that kind of play….meanwhile I’m wracking my brain trying to remember a baseball themed Broadway production here

  6. Here I was reading “What’s the call?” like an umpire and saying – well that one’s so easy I don’t even think Angel Hernandez could mess it up.

  7. If you wanna get real weird with it do a crazy “play” like when Clemens threw half a bat at Piazza in the world series 😅

  8. I know it was already answered and the score doesn’t match but all I could think of was “…a drive into deep left field by Castellanos”

  9. I misread it and was thinking “When did the Dodgers play a team called the Otters???” 😄

  10. Ooh I’m also an English teacher in Japan. When I tell my kids that I was am umpire in the States for 13 years, they’ll be super surprised(especailly cause theyve never heard of a female umpire), and we’ll always have a couple boys quietly mimicking “out” and “safe” calls to their friends.

I’ll always call on them to stand up and do it for everyone, then encourage them to do it louder again. Then, get another kid to try their best. Cap it off with me going all out as loud as I’d be for a close call in a serious game, with the proper body language and all.

Those kids can be a blast, especially when it’s stuff they are already at least somewhat knowledgeable about.

  11. This is so fun, I love it!

Is this a piece of paper with a field and players, then a clear piece of material on top which can have different plays drawn on?

Or is it just the Flowers call play?

Again, love it. Happen to be considering TEFL and this just seems so fun.

  12. How in tune with American baseball are these kids?

Was in Japan earlier this month and anyone wearing a cap had an MLB team on it
