  1. Good to see Cutch back. At age 38 he could be wrapping it up after this season. Hopefully he stays healthy and productive and can play until 40. He won't overstay his ability to play as he has always been very realistic about his health and ongoing contribution to the team. Nice Christmas present for the fans.

  2. Andrew McCutchen has benefited this Pirates franchise over the years not just as a talented baseball player, but as a very good human being. He treats others with kindness and respect, he's authentic, and he's a shining example of how to interact with fans and teammates. He's also completely relatable in an intentional way– and by association, he's made the Pirates organization more relatable (no small feat after multiple seasons of losing). He's clearly been a very valuable bright spot on this Pirates team.

McCutchen on his return for a 17th Major League season:

"It's plain and simple. I said this earlier. If I don't embarrass myself, then I'm going to continue, keep going and doing it and if I get the opportunity, I'm going to. At the end of the day, that's me personally, but I would love to win, too. I haven't done that in a long time, and I haven't been in the playoffs in a while here. It would be nice to do it here, and we're a special group of guys. We're a special team. It's there. Just got to piece the puzzle."

I found this part of McCutchen's statement particularly intriguing. It caused me to wonder if he believes that those current leading this organization are still the right people to "piece the puzzle" successfully.

~ I hope everyone here has a peaceful and meaningful holiday. ~

  3. He is a good guy but doesn’t deserve anything. He got paid gazillions for his services over the years and there are many working stiffs out there that work a job for many years just as loyal as cutch that get kicked to the curb after their usefulness has diminished without the millions in the bank so I’m not getting all bleary eyed over this signing. He already got enough “appreciation “ for being a pirate

  4. My wife and I are from southern Illinois , we are renting an apartment on North shore for a year just to go to Pittsburgh sports , we are so glad we get to see Cutch again !

  5. Go out and sign free agents Randal Grichuk and Jesse Winker would be a good platoon for right field and giving Reynolds and Cruz days off when needed. But I'm afraid this owner and management won't spend anymore and go with a Suwinski, Cooke, Palacious and Yorke and see if any of them can be the rightfielders for little money.

  6. We should do everything in our power to at the very least make the playoffs if for no other reason than. PLAY FOR CUTCH’s sake for one last opportunity!!! PLZ FOR ONCE!

  7. Thank you DK, Cutch is awesome, and yes it's the right thing ! Before he retires he deserves the very best. Merry Christmas Dk and to everyone across all DK sports. Love the show !

  8. Pirates are a con. Love cutch but this has become a way to distract the fan base by holding onto good memories of the past and getting away from the reality that they will never spend enough to be competitive. This will sell tickets and nutting wouldn’t want it any other way. Sadly many fall for the con.
