Dawg if we take a qb over an offensive lineman… we’ve hit new lows
I would understand them drafting him but I don’t really want him. If this is how it fell I’d rather have Will Johnson or Abdul Carter over ward
I think QB wise Cally will prefer Shedeur, who is a better processer. I’m not sure why this class gets a ton of flak, I think both Cam and Shedeur are good prospects.
If we don’t go QB (I think we will unless the Raiders jump us), I’d want Carter. We need pass rush help desperately.
Don’t really like it at 4 but I don’t hate it. I like Ward a lot but Im hesitant about how much that playmaking ability will translate over to the NFL. A lot of those broken tackles are sacks in the NFL.
Fun watch in college but definitely made some doodoo head decisions. Riskier pick of the 2 qbs but people say he has a much higher ceiling than sanders because he’s so athletic. Personally don’t love it because he’ll need some development and we don’t have a great history with raw qbs. Need a safer impact player right now like Abdul or Tmac imo
If we can build all the pieces around him in free agency, I wouldn’t hate the pick. But I also doubt very strongly that we can build all the pieces during free agency.
Landry and Key are getting cut no way they can pass on Carter
A lot of his flaws are similar to Levis. Wanders in the pocket, takes unnecessary risks, doesn’t seem to have much of an internal clock. Levis might be a touch more gifted.
With that said, I don’t totally hate it. He seems to be better mentally and more successful than Levis.
If you believe in Callahan and his system, Shedeur is a much better fit.
This isn’t the year for QBs. We dont need another QB that isn’t gonna turn out. That wastes another 2-3 years.
Abdul + Meatloaf = lots of worried offenses
I would support him, but this is a terrible pick. Ward is basically Levis but with slightly better wheels but slightly less arm talent. Gunslinger who likes to play hero-ball, who is turnover prone who needs a good O-line to actually be effective with his play style. If Callahan is the coach next season I seriously doubt he will be able to change the scheme to suit him since he can’t with Levis.
Not a huge fan of his to be honest. His football processing worries me a lot. Reminds me of AR15 when it comes to football IQ. Outside of one easy read, it’s up in the air after that. Cam will light it up at the combine and pro day so people will be blinded by that. But I think the NFL speed will be too fast for him especially at the start much like with AR15
Sanders all day
We need pass rush or someone to prevent a pass rusher. There’s no QBs in the market that could save our organization. Build the foundation back up. Then maybe our mediocre QB or a free agent can come in and salvage what we got. Super Bowl 2027 here we come
Not no, but fuck no
Cam is the best qb in the draft.
He’s a pure passer/quick decision maker and very accurate. Would be a nice upgrade from the Mayo Man
Ward=Levis with better mobility. The only QB worth a damn in this draft is Shedeur and even then he’s gonna need some coaching up. I hope the report they are only interested in Shedeur is true because Ward is not it
Supposing we keep Brian Callahan i think Shedeur Sanders fits hit scheme the best of any potential QB in the last year or two. If we are moving on from Brian Callahan Cam Ward might become a good fit… I do like his play style a lot but his speed concerns me… He gets by in college by drawing out plays by the skin of his teeth and making Mahomes-esq throws of his back foot or while being tackled. The issue is that at the NFL level the defensive players are even faster that means fewer escapes and less time to escape to get the play off. I just have doubts that part of his game works out and thats a large part of his draft potential… if he’s stuck as a pure pocket passer he’d be more akin to a 2nd round pick.
I personally would look at Kevin Banks Jr and Will Campbell (again assuming we keep Brian and thus Bill Callahan) and see if he can get a RT out of one of them. If he can that’s my pick. If he isn’t 100% sure he can then Abdul Carter.
Tertairoa McMillan scares me. He reminds me a lot of Burks, a big physical WR but one that can’t get separation and thus has to win in contested catch situations (now he is a tiny bit faster and taller than Burks so his mismatches should be a little better but even so). I wish he was a better blocker at the point of contact, if he was or could be trained to be a more dominant physical blocker he’d pair nicely with Ridley.
Pick him. If he’s not good we try again next year.
I don’t want to be blasphemous but does anyone see some McNair in him with his size/play making ability? It seems like he has just enough mobility to keep plays alive but keeps his head up looking to make throws down field. That type of player is naturally prone to occasional decision issues when play break down but like McNair he’s shown that intangible quality to step up in big moments and put the team on his back. Just curious if anyone else sees similarities or if I’m way off
I’m hoping for trade back with Raiders so we can get more picks that we desperately need. If not then Carter/ LT or RT, I think JC would be much better at RT than LT.
I’m out on Ward. He could end up being a Josh Allen type player, but after being burned by Levis I’d rather just go with Shedeur if we draft a QB.
I still want Abdul Carter the most, but any one of him, McMillan, or Shedeur would be good picks imo.
Ik everyone wants to take BPA such as o lineman but we have to remember the nfl has a insanely high turnover rate when it comes to head coaches and general managers so if you guys have top 5 pick it’s more than likely Carthon will have no choice but to take a qb, Carthon isn’t going to be like Joe Schoen and risk his job security by taking a safe pick like Brandon Beane once said as a gm you live and die by the draft
