Joc Pederson declares end of Astros’ ‘nice little run’ in official Rangers introduction

    >Not 12 minutes into his tenure as a Texas Ranger Monday, Joc Pederson, who has apparently eschewed pearls for obsidian jewelry, took the first big swing of his two-year contract.

    >At the Astros.

    >You know, the team that has dominated the AL West for a decade. The Astros may not be a dynasty, but seven division titles in eight years, four pennants and two World Series rings is about as close as a team can get these days. And, according to Pederson, that’s all over.

    >“They put together a nice little run,” Pederson said. “It’s coming to an end. It’s time for us to take over the West.”

    >He said more. But it didn’t really matter what came after that. Just that sentence alone was the kind of mouthful nobody around these parts has spoken since Globe Life Field opened to an empty house in the middle of the pandemic in 2020. Even when Corey Seager, Pederson’s pal from their Dodger days, clapped back at Houston after the Rangers won the World Series, he did so sheepishly, then handed the mic to the first person he could find.

  2. Doesn’t matter who you are, you shit talk the astros and I’m gonna like you just a little bit

  3. Man I don’t even care that this is a statement that could bite us in the ass later down the road.

It’s nice to see some sort of shit talk, confidence, edginess, etc etc whatever you want to call it.

Between Seager being quiet as a church mouse and introverted (I’m the same way tbh), Semien being positive vibes all the time (not a bad thing), it just felt like we didn’t have any dawg in us at times.

  4. The Dodgers-Rangers alliance is good right now. God, the thread in /r/baseball once again prove how deranged and mentally unstable Astros fans are if and when 2017 gets brought up.
