  1. Honestly not surprised and kinda saw him going to AZ a good home is more important than money. I’ve also learned to be patient when it comes to the O’s don’t know what goes behind closed doors, but know it takes agreement from both sides plus the agent

  2. You are the only journalist Mr. Ripken who broke it down from a players perspective, and a business prospective. This is the part that the average fan does not understand. These MLB players have to wait until they are almost 30 or done with their prime years before they hit the free market. It is now their chance to do what is best for them and securing their future. The failures of the Yankees with Soto and Burnes of Baltimore is that you don't let these guys leave or walk into free agency, once you trade for them you then proceed to secure them right away. Anything can happen in free agency.

  3. Not surprised with Burns signing with Arizona. BUT, will Orioles Ownership spend the money, like they themselves said they would be doing, and make some moves that put us over the top. Spend some money! Stop being so damn cheap! Re sign Santander!

  4. The team is worse now than it was at the end of the season. Not even a question. If this is the team we run on opening day that would be an absolute joke. I know watching this there’s never going to be the real deal bc you’re too close to the team to ever say anything truly negative. I commend Rocco for kind of telling it like it is but this show just keeps making excuses for this impotent front office.

  5. Realistically Burnes was never at the top of Elias’ deals to complete. Trust me he is still focused on getting a top rotation starter via trade, period. It will happen.

  6. If team control was so important Elias would’ve done a deal for Crochet. Team control is nice but track record is more important when giving up something for a pitcher.

  7. Most people don't understand that sports is a job. The majority of athletes do not care about winning or even the sport they play. People care more about family then the sports franchise you love.

Do you think Cal would have spent his entire career in Kansas City if that was the team who drafted him? The answer is no.

  8. Another off-season full of amateur hour hand wringing by the Baltimore fans. Armchair GM’s overreacting. Burnes isn’t worth what he got, we saw him struggling at times down the stretch. That’s not going to improve. Do you really think Elias doesn’t know what he’s doing? Look at his history, trust the process.

  9. This is Ground control to Major Mike.Your free agent pitching market is dead.Your feeling the effects of Dodger blue and Liftoff hasn't been working for you.Can you here me Major Mike? Can you here me Major Mike? I thought this would be fitting regarding how Mike Elias made a statement regarding Liftoff.Maybe NASA is hiring.

  10. I knew Burnes was a 1-yr leased guy last year. I knew at the end of this season he wasn't coming back regardless. Why we were not more active in trying to lock up other pitchers of equal or comparable talent this offseason while they were available is beyond me.

I guess I will go scour the lists of pitchers that have free agency coming up in 2026 that we might trade for. My guess is Elias believes you get the best out of a pitcher the year before their free agency. Makes sense but not sure how many of value are out there that meet that condition.

  11. That's how you rip a Band-Aid off. Let's face it baseball has three types of teams. Those who sell Pepsi, those who sell Coca-Cola, and those who sell Sam's Cola. Unfortunately the O's are selling Sam's Cola to their fans at the price of Pepsi ane Coke.

  12. I have to believe that Burnes was holding out for Arizona the entire time, and if they were never an option, then he probably would have come back to Baltimore for an opt out heavy high AAV contract. I think SF and Tor got played just to keep the $ and years high.

Also, the no leaks about Arizona or Baltimore tells you that both organizations are air-tight on leaks, and Boras at least respects them or his client's interest in them enough to not break that seal.

  13. I understand and agree with developing your own and keeping your own, but if you’re gonna do it that way you shouldn’t draft 90% position players 10% pitchers maybe not that extreme but seems like it

  14. Setting aside Corbin Burnes for a moment, I am just thrilled that we have Ryan Ripken to talk baseball with us. Seeing him gives me nostalgic vibes from remembering his dad at the same age. Big fan of his family. His uncle, Bill, is under rated.

  15. I can’t blame the guy for wanting to be near his family and young child. These guys are humans with emotions and feelings. As much as it’s a business sometimes family means more.

  16. The O's should have known this, that Corbin wanted to go home, months ago! And since they did know this, they should've given up any hope of signing him and gone after some else just as good for the same amount of money.
