7 months ago, the Timberwolves were in the Western Conference Finals… enjoying their best season in 20 years – with a real chance to win the NBA title. They had size, skill, defense, and a fantastic young guard at the center of all of it in Anthony Edwards.
And now… their team is falling apart. We know what happened in between then and now – they traded away Karl Anthony Towns – who is now thriving on his new team – for financial flexibility and a draft pick – and the team that trade left behind is completely lost.

Honestly Randle is just a garbage player who puts up empty stats and if they were going to make a trade they should have at least gotten a player that isn't Randle
KAT is way better than Randle.
Minnesota should do a soft rebuild right now while they still have Ant locked up for a long time, if they take too long he'll have bargaining power.

They also had a way more tough run than the celtics to the wcf/ecf man, they could have won of championship if they still had towns because towns also provides spacing.

Naz Reid, Divincenzo, and McDaniels has all underperformed. Is Randle an awkward fit? Yes, but dont act like this is all his fault. And KAT is still soft, New Yorks defense is terrible this year and it shows.
The answer is simple. TWolves trading KAT to the Knicks was the dumbest move ever for them. They should have found a way to make it work with his and Ants contract. Them 2 together were a big core to the team
People knew this was a bad trade for Minnesota reason that people wanted to justify say they would’ve lost Naz in free agency while Naz is beloved he isn’t as good as KAT also will be opting out and commanding at least 20+ mil a year also giving mcdaniels a terrible contract and extending Conley and gobert

I don't think you can compare Boston and Minnesota money wise
KAT was their best player. Not Edwards. Edwards is a narcacist. It takes humility to be a true winner. His parents did a lousy job. He won't EVER be a champion. His is a play maker but that isn't enough. True championship teams have everyone score in the doubles if not every night its most nights. Rudy should be benched or traded as he cannot hang with AD, Jokic, Wemby, KAT, or Porzingis. The best centers! Naz Reid is a better choice than Rudy. Naz has heart. I could easily go on but why would I. The Wolves are not contenders anymore.

Tje kat trade was like one of the last that happened in the off-season and it was the most head scratching. Why trade your 2nd best player after coming from a CONFERENCE FINALS! FOR Julias Randle of all people. Why did they think this was a good idea?
Ant is not on Giannis level sorry but no , he has potential yes same as a lot of players… but you don't base you franchise on expectations or "potentials "

Should have traded Gobert. My opinion. I get the cap moves, I mean look at the clippers from last season to this season let PG walk because of the CBA and were able to bring in solid role players to put around their stars. What the wolves did was move the wrong guy. But when you look future wise they will have to trade Gobert either way because this team isn’t winning without solid help for Edward’s. Who’s easily their best player ever. Should have traded Gobert

Problem is that Kat was on terrible team for a very long time and people forgot how great he was
No offense but you must not be aware of the rest of the CBA. Had they kept Towns they also have all their picks frozen for 7 years and 7 years past this year their pick goes to #30 no matter where they finish that season (ANT's prime). So if they did what you are suggesting (Keeping KAT for 4 more years) they would be pick frozen until 2032 and have the 30th pick in the draft until 2036. That is why they traded KAT.
