Colts GM Chris Ballard said it was a mistake to “run it back” with nearly an identical roster

  1. It seems like our GM just learned that if your team is not good one year and then you keep the same players the next year they will also be not good that year. That feels like something he maybe should have already known.

  2. “We were so close last year”

2min later when asked about signing free agents

“We aren’t close, close is losing on the last play of the Super Bowl”

    😂

  3. He admitted it but this sub wants blood. The only thing he can do to satisfy r/colts is get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness.

  4. Ask yourself this: If EVERYONE saw that ahead of time, what gives you confidence that Ballard has the ability to do it now?

He’s a BSer of the biggest order

  5. Yeah too late for that. I don’t see how any FA is going to want to come to this team. We will see the same shit next season.

  6. Does anyone have a half smart chimp or dog that we could get to upgrade our front office. This dude has no answers.I honestly think Jim told him to “just do whatever with the team”. Who in the fuck gets almost a decade to succeed at their job?

  7. Look. He’s saying A LOT of things in this presser, but I need his actions to follow suit. Obviously he’s pissed at players making public comments… especially whoever spoke anonymously.

  8. Guys, I understand it’s fun to shit on Chris. I’m as guilty as the next guy.

However, this is the most growth we have seen from him his entire tenure here. Obviously actions speak louder than words, but i’m cautiously willing to see what he does in FA to change this team.

  9. Correct. But we did we learn from that mistake is the question

Words are nice. Actions are what matter

  10. “When the stove is on, the burner is hot.”

    /holds up bandaged hands

“It’s been a mistake to touch it over and over”

  11. It’s not really a mistake when every other single person said not to do it and you spent all of your time insinuating those people (every one) was stupid.

  12. Cool. Actually do something different this off-season then. Same performative shit every year with this guy

  13. I feel like this is satire.

    This is satire….. right guys?

    RIGHT?!?!?!

    We’re doomed with this bozo.

  14. Anyone with eyes and 6 brain cells has been telling him that our WR group and TE group are not enough to be successful. And yes done nothing about it for 4+ yrs.

He must be black mailing Irsay to still have a job. He’s an abject failure and should have been shit canned after we lost in Jax with Wentz

  15. Ballard said his priority has always been taking care of our players. That’s great, but I think he needs to re-prioritize. He needs to take care of the fans first. And sometimes that means bringing in new players who are better suited than the ones we currently have.

Ballard has been a good drafter. We get 3-4 starters from almost every draft. But he has been bad in free agency and bad at fixing the QB situation. We need to see multiple high level free agents brought in, underperformers let go, a culture of internal competition (fighting for your place), a good D coordinator brought in, and a good QB option brought in to compete with AR. If he does all of that, I think he will have me (and a lot of fans) back onside and we’ll go from there.

  16. So many times people say “Oh the fans don’t know as much as these football people”, yet the *vast* majority of us saw this season coming. Yes, 2024 was all about AR’s development and we knew the playoffs were a long shot, but with how shit this season was managed and comments like this it shows that Ballard simply can’t be trusted.

We are supposed to be looking to the future and talking about AR being the guy, but now we are stuck with a GM that does the same shit every fucking year and expects different results and a QB that no one has confidence in from a fan to organization standpoint. Ballard has truly done a masterclass in organizational mismanagement, and our owner is standing by watching with complacency.

Unless something drastically changes or AR turns into the polar opposite of who he’s been over the next 9 months, 2025 is going to be a wasted year. Can’t wait.
