NBC Sports Bay Area moving to higher-priced Xfinity tier

  1. Squeezing every last dollar until the MLB can join the 21st century and go to a streaming model

  2. all of these teams are sure trying hard as heck to make the teams impossible to watch at these prices. between tickets, streaming it’s ridiculous

  3. Just got this email and how absurd. We’re already paying for more channels than we watch. Crazy.

  4. ~~What the heck is Digital Preferred? I got the same e-mail and have Popular TV (125+ Channels.) I assume tomorrow I no longer have NBC Sports Bay Area?~~

“…networks are moving from Xfinity’s Popular TV level of service to the Digital Preferred/Ultimate TV package on Jan. 14.”[ source](https://www.nbcsportsboston.com/news/nbc-sports-boston-is-moving-to-a-different-comcast-xfinity-tv-package/680336/)

Ultimate TV is also called Digital Preferred.

    Fuck Comcast.

  5. Just switch to pirating + VPN. It’s way cheaper, less stressful and believe it or not with the right services it’s even more reliable than cable.

    Fuck these greedy pigs

  6. Switching to Sail Internet and YouTube TV (with Sunday Ticket) saved me money and I got a ton of benefit from it. Highly recommend. Insane that Comcast felt the need to do this with ITS OWN NETWORKS. Greedy bastards.

  7. Guess my family isn’t gonna watch them 🤷 and the kids (next generation of fans/consumers) will let their fandom fade even moreso.

I’m a sharks fan too and they have another 2-3 years on their contract with NBC sports then, like many other teams are doing successfully, are most likely going to private streaming.

  8. Nope. If they take that off my premium sports package ill call and give them hell until i get it for free. They usually cave and give you a deal if you demand it

  9. Shitty thing is I was going to get MLB TV to watch MORE baseball this season. And now they took away the bare minimum.

  10. Looking at my bill: My takeaways: Seems like I could just add the ā€œUltimate TVā€ package for $8 more? but then also cancel my Regional Sports Fee of $17, so I’d actually come out ahead? Odd….

  11. So KNBR is supposedly on its last legs(?) and the Giants just got taken off basic cable…if it’s becoming harder to simply follow the team, how much longer are we supposed to care?

  12. I stopped using Xfinity and will never go back. Company from hell. More people ought to do the same.

  13. The fact that these carriage deals are all happening within their own greedy family. F- Comcast NBCUniversal.

  14. Free MLB with T-Mobile and I used PIA for vpn streaming. It makes me log in a couple of times a week but better than paying an arm and a leg.

I am old enough to remember some Warriors games on channel 36 OTA and Giants on Channel 2.

Or you can pirate a stream but that is a other story.

  15. Got this email earlier today. Was mainly keeping the service for Warriors/Giants games and my parents, but this cancellation is long overdue.

  16. oh wow, i was just watching the warriors replay, turned away for a few minutes and now the channels toast…. not even a proper warning. its cartoon network all over again

  17. I switched to streaming iptv sites + vpn on an Apple TV. Never looked back on giving these greedy leagues a dime

  18. Got it. So I’ll be canceling my cable subscription then. Local sports are basically the only reason I have it, and I’d been thinking about cutting it anyway.

  19. Terrible. I downgraded my Xfinity/Comcast package a year ago, paying $200+ for a double play internet+TV package was just too much.

For those that watch games using a MLB TV subscription, do they broadcast the pre-game and post-game shows? When I followed Bumgarner when he was on the Dbacks, I know they streamed the AZ Bally Sports pre- and post-game shows.

I might just start using the free MLB TV sub I get through T-Mobile and pair it with a good inexpensive VPN to watch Giants games.
