  1. 多くの日本人が喜び期待している明るいニュースだ でも規定投球回に達したことのない投手に不安も感じている
    勿論応援するけど過度な期待は慎みたい😂

  2. This was not a difficult decision for Roki! Stop playing 😂. Everyone knew it was the Dodgers from the jump…except the Blue Jays 😂. The Jays were so hood winked that they made the most idiotic trade in order to increase international bonus pool money 😂. He was never going anywhere but LA.

  3. It's been reported in Japanese sports media that Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Rouki Sasaki have been good friends for many years. Apparently, their mothers are friends too, so yeah the relationship is pretty strong.

  4. Why is Jim Bowden asking for an investigation into whether sasaki had a shadow deal with the Dodgers after MLB already looked into it and found nothing? Further, if Bowden was so convinced sasaki had a deal in place, why was he so publicly adamant that sasaki would sign with the Padres? And wasn't Bowden part of an FBI investigation for skimming bonus money from Latin American players when he was running the Nationals? No wonder this guy was fired multiple times as a GM. He's desperately trying to be relevant again.

  5. Unfortunately, the Japanese media has a strong culture of condemning "individual challenges" as heretics who rebel against Japanese society and organizational rules.

It was terrible with Nomo. He was not allowed to challenge the MLB, and after retiring, he was kicked out of the Japanese baseball world and went to the United States.

When Ichiro and Otani were in the game, there was a lot of criticism from the media that they would not make it in the MLB. In the case of Sasaki, there is a lot of criticism from the old media with vested interests that a pitcher who has not pitched the required number of times in the NLB will not make it. It is sad, but the nature of the Japanese media does not change. However, once a pitcher succeeds and produces results, they turn around and are filled with praise. I think this pressure to conform is a major problem facing Japan, which has been a mono-ethnic nation for a long time and has not been very good at moving towards diversity.

  6. Everyone talking about how "illegal" "unfair" "ridiculous" the Dodgers are and there should be salary caps etc. But no one ever talks about how unfair college football is. It's the same exact thing. Every single year, it's the same teams in college football playoffs or ranked teams. And yes, money is a reason. NIL, top of the line facilities, etc. Feels good to finally be on this side of it. My college football team is in the Big Ten for context.

  7. Sasaki is still young, he made the right choice. He can go and win championships with the Dodgers and then strike out on his own to make his own legacy elsewhere. As good as people think that he is (and he is) but he's still going to be the new guy on the team, more will be expected from Shohei and Yamamoto than from Sasaki and winning a few under the Dodgers is just going to boost his worth down the line especially if he contributes majorly to the wins. It's pointless to sign with a lesser club and possibly be their ace pitcher only to lose year after year and possibly get injured in the process since so much more will be expected from him.
