Indianapolis Colts – Lou Anarumo only a start to defensive competence! Hoosiers MUST win in Evanston

Colts defense needs roster upgrade at several spots, or hiring Anarumo is not a meaningful upgrade.
Mike Woodson and his team of Hoosiers need a win tonight at Northwestern. Upcoming games against Maryland, at Purdue, at Wisconsin, vs. Michigan, and at Michigan State but games against a less talented team VERY important.
Ben Johnson won his press conference – but we’ll see if he can win games!

Bears call Chris Ballard for permission to talk to Matt Eberflus about their coaching vacancy in 2022 – an eerily accurate re-enactment!

*Mentioned Aaron Glenn was hired today by the Giants. I misspoke. Of course it was the Jets.

  1. Hi Kent! Tell me your thoughts on this years prospects at linebacker. I believe there are a couple really good ones the COLTS could explore drafting to upgrade that room immediately!!! Indianapolis's own Higgins from Iowa is just one of many… The circus that is Zaire and EJ can take themselves, all of their missed tackles, and controversial podcast elsewhere! The Tight End group is solid at the top, so maybe we can get these positions of need through the draft. What do you think?

  2. Hey Kent! I just subscribed and I would love your thoughts on this draft order. Tyler Warren in a he 1st, Xavier Watts (safety notre dame) in the second and Maxwell Hairston (CB duke) in the 3rd. I think bringing in some new secondary weapons would be nice. And getting a star tight end would give AR his safety blanket. What other positions would you draft instead of these if you don’t like it?

  3. Without watching. No he cannot. They need a lockdown CB. Kent I know you probably don't want to hear this but AR in my opinion will not improve. Not too many teams will start a project QB. Most of them sit behind a seasoned veteran to learn. Of course with the exception of a very few. Also "in my opinion" teams need to go back to smart pocket passing QBs instead of looking for that dual threat. There aren't a lot of GREAT dual threats out there but teams think they can make a QB into that caliber just because they can either 1. Scramble to find an opening and pass the ball. 2. Just because they are athletic. They should have never drafted AR with him only starting 13 college games. He is inconsistent and at the bottom of the barrel in the league as a starter. Worst QBR in the league and worst completion percentage. Shore up on those linebackers and keep the defense off of the IR. That hurt the defense this season. However I do believe Lou can be the man with the right guys. He is very unpredictable and disguises plays to keep offenses guessing. The Colts need the right players on the field to step it up on defense. They don't have that. I believe they're only a couple pieces away though on defense because they were not horrible. It was a combo of plays called and the personnel on the field. Latu was asked to rush the run. He is a pass rusher. But they had no choice. He had to play more. I do believe he will improve. They have the receivers but they need at least one tight end that can be a threat in receiving. Not just blocking. Surely to God Ballard knows this. Have a great day…

  4. Kent the bills are gonna beat the chiefs

You totally dissing the bills is hilarious

    Mahomes is the goat yes

    But goats lose

And the bills are the better team

They already proved that the last time they played the chiefs

    And beat them handily

  5. Always loved Bozo’s prize buckets. I always thought I could put those ping pong balls in the buckets. Anarumo will do great for the Colts. He needs to change the LBs and DBs to improve the defense. Ballard needs to spend on free agents. If he doesn’t spend, you will already know how the season will go. Too many holes for the draft only!

  6. I'm not sure why you still advocate for Mike Woodson.

Honest question, didn't Woodson ban Brian Evans, Hoosier hysteria guys, and Dane Fife?

Also heard Jim Coyle (i think) was contacted to take down negative comments about Woody.

Seems like Woody is burning bridges left and right.

  7. i remember a home northwestern game way back when i was a student, between 78-82. we were beating the living hell out of northwestern and were up around 30 at the half. as the team was heading to the locker room, knight picked up the mic and proceed to berate the ho-hum quiet crowd with, "if that;s all the noise you can make, we'd rather play in front of nobody!". the stunned crown watched in silence as knight stormed off the floor. but wait! here's the kicker. then his wife makes her way to the scorer's table, picks up the same mic, and starts to chew out the crowd, too. after she got out a half a sentence, the crowd descended on her with a chorus of boos that drowned her out. sometimes i wonder if i'm the only one who remembers thatgreat moment in iu basketball history. well, i'm certain don fischer does.

different times. northwestern wins at home as the iu slide begins in earnest.
