Realistic trade deadline targets for Edmonton Oilers | Trade Rumors

Many Edmonton Oilers fans are heading into the trade deadline season with the hope the team makes a big splash. However the Oilers lack assets to make a major move and there really isn’t much available for the team to trade for.

That’s why we have highlighted some B-list trade deadline targets that the Oilers could realistically add. While these players might not push the needle the exact way a player like Mattias Ekholm has, they could be crucial in a long playoff run.

Do you have any under the radar players you could see the Oilers trading for?

  1. I'm not sure they are sold on the goalie tandem and I think they will make a move. John Gibson or Connor Ingram type would be a possibility to play with Skinner. I agree, they need a true top 4 dman. Klingberg might surprise, but insurance baby. I hope they don't continue to let the future slip away. Dylan Holloway, Mike Kesselring, Broberg etc..

  2. One trade proposal a fan made on Puck Pedia that I actually think would be unreal was Seattle trade Oleksiak and Gourde with 50% retention to Edmonton for Kulak, Skinner, a 2027 1st rounder a 2028 2nd rounder, and a 2027 4th round pick to Buffalo to retain another 25% on Gourde. Losing Kulak would suck but Oleksiak is that big mean defenseman Edmonton needs and Gourde is that bottom-six center that you need for a deep run in the postseason, and you have him for only 25%.

  3. I believe Pierre lebrun mentioned oilers looking at a depth d that is more shutdown and a fwd that has some sandpaper and can play all 3 positions in the bottom 6.

What about colton scisson right shot center gritty pesty that can play all 3 fwd positions , wins faceoff solid defensively and can kill penalty. Right shot – 2 yrs remaining at 2.85 mil per season .
    Retain 25-50 %.

brian dumoulin 6"3 left shot d playoff experience won 2 cups, good puck mover. has top 4 experience. Playing almost 20 mins with anahiem. Can play with emberson or klingberg on the bottom pair. Kulak can move up with nurse.

    3.15 mil cap hit – 25-35 % retain.

Edmonton one left shot injury from Cam dineen getting called up. Adding a left shot that can play both side with experience.

  4. Honestly I am excited for John Kilngberg, I think he’s going to exceed expectations. In his interview he said he’s finally playing without pain for the first time in YEARS, like 5+ years or something. If that’s the case then he could be even better than he was in previous seasons.

  5. Theres many defense out there; Xhekaj and Rasmus Andersson (more easier to get) or Matheson and Parayko if they were willing to give up more like Savoie and or Bouchard. They need at least 2 of those 4 I think to stand a chance defensively. With Jake Evans and Klim Kostin for depth and a third goalie too.

  6. Jason Dickson would be a great addition. Would give up a first round draft pick for him. I don't see the Oilers making a ton of trades this year but here's hoping for at least one significant move.
