Even the Pirates are outspending the Cardinals!

The Pittsburgh Pirates are reportedly signing former Cardinal outfielder Tommy Pham to a one-year deal. The Minnesota Twins have landed Harrison Bader on a short contract, too.

The St. Louis Cardinals remain the one team out in the cold who hasn’t done a single thing when it comes to notable trades or acquisitions. Plus, is Scott Boras the best agent for players outside of the Juan Soto tier of free agency? Alex Bregman and Pete Alonso may be new examples of the problem of that dynamic.

  1. How about Randall Grichuk he was a Cardinal that would fit well as a right-handed hitter off the bench. He can play all the outfield spots in a pinch. I would like to take his career stats since the Cardinals and compare them to a compilation on, say, left-fielders since. Instead, absolutely nothing!?! Going young is good, doing nothing is bad.

  2. MLB owners at war with Boras? I think several are. And in regards to the Cardinals, any current players that have Boras as their agent….. there will be no contract extensions and most if all will be traded prior to free agency. So if we hear Winn (or others) is represented by Boras, don't get too attached to him as a Cardinal.

  3. I just hope the Cardinals do not trade Arenado just to make him happy. I would only trade Arenado if the Cardinals can get a minor league pitcher close to the MLB similar to Mc Greevy. I assume the Cardinals are only talking to the teams that Arenado would not reject a trade. The Cardinals do need to first see what they can get in return and it may be better trading him while the season is already started. The Cardinals want to see the young players play so if necessary use Arenado as an alternating DH.
