The Padres are asking for too much from the Orioles in Dylan Cease trade talks

According to Roch Kubatko of MASN, the San Diego Padres have been asking for Samuel Basallo, Jordan Westburg, or Coby Mayo in trade talks with the Baltimore Orioles regarding Dylan Cease.   1. First live at bat I saw of Basallo he absolutely smoked a pitch, the crack of the bat said it all. The Padres gave up too much to get Cease and they want us to pick up the tab for their trade. Easy "no" let's roll with what we have and stay healthy

  2. I do think the padres would say no to that deal… they are just expecting a little too much for Cease I think. For me that’s the best case scenario though…. Mountcastle, McDermott, and Kremer are all fantastic pickups

  4. Hot take id trade Adley over Basallo. This trade for cease should be mountcastle and mayo plus a draft pick. I would rather trade Heston than mayo but I don’t think SD would take that deal

  5. No way I’m moving any of those 3 for a rental. I’m willing to MAYBE consider a mayo trade for a top notch NON RENTAL stud pitcher but idk who that would be so rn all 3 are untouchable to me

  6. We do not need another rental no matter who we trade. Cant keep giving away our prospects/batters for these rentals just to not win a playoff game. Get a pitcher for atleast 3 years or not worth it

  10. It feels like the front office is willing to wait till the deadline to make a move at this point. Maybe the price of some of these guys will go down and they’ll have a better idea of who they’re willing to move themselves.

  11. The Padres have every right to ask for what They’re asking. look at what Burnes and Fried signed for. If the Orioles are cheap, which in my opinion they absolutely are, they deserve what they get. The orioles tanked to build this team. Now is the time to pay the assets to get what they need. Screw Mountcastle. If I’m the Padres I say get lost. I’m not a padres fan. The truth is simple. The Orioles are Cheap and I’d call them on it. Let Mountcasstle pitch if he’s so valuable. The answer is one word, that word is CHEAP. You act like the Orioles have a God Given right to be given an ace for free. If Grayson and Bradish don’t pitch like Aces, the Orioles will deserve what they get. And Connor stop being an Orioles apologist. Call it as it is, they are CHEAP.
