They’re saying a 6/7 year deal is on the table. Please god no.
No. I want him at 3B, Veirling at RF, Carp at DH
If we don’t sign him I’ll be delighted to try another year of 3+ WAR Vierling at 3B. If we do sign him, well that’s like 8+ WAR total between the two of them that I will like even more. That is to say, I won’t be upset if he goes elsewhere, but he definitely would improve the team.
However by all accounts it sounds like he’s going big fat long deal with Houston or bust. Idk if he’s really big fat long deal worthy.
Are we over a real 3d baseman with better stats than what we have in every category except one, and almost 20 more runs driven in while still having one of the lowest payrolls in baseball? No. I’ll take that any day of the week.
ZiPS has Vierling projected for 1.4 WAR this season. If you want to know how projection systems see his value.
He’s pissing me off. It’s February 11th dude, this is your market. Shit or get off the pot.
* Vierling career year vs Bregman down year and Bregman is still a lot better.
* Also not really an either/or thing. Vierling will be in the team either way. And Vierling isn’t a great defensive 3b so getting him to other positions where he’s comparatively better helps him
I was mortified when I heard we were looking at him. I hope to God we don’t get him.
I been over him lol
I see we’re not over making a bad comparison given that Vierling wasn’t the primary 3B last year and wouldn’t be this year if we don’t sign Bregman.
We had a combined 0.9 fWAR at 3B last year. Compare Bregman to *that*.
No
He does not want to be here, obviously, so let him go. Drive up his price in case one of our competitors gets him, and move on.
Vierling wouldn’t put up 3.0 WAR if he was the everyday third baseman. His defense is far better in the outfield and his WAR would drop at third
lol come on. Bregman is one of the best defensive 3B in the league and vierling is an OF
You better your team by getting a butcher off the infield and back into the OF. Having another OF means baddoo probably doesn’t play this year
Guys it’s ok to have TWO good players on offense.
No because 1 war is a huge deal in the grand scheme. And bregman signing would prove CI isn’t a cheap ass and at least wants to give the impression he’s trying to win
Tigers fans are hilarious, theyll give Tork a 4 season leash, but this guy with fat money on the table weighs his options and they take it as a personal attack. If we sign him youll all be in love with him and he immediately makes the lineup and infield better
I hope so, this posturing is ridiculous.
Vierling seems so much more clutch. Maybe he isn’t, I totally could be wrong, but he just seemed to come through in scoring position AB’s and base running when we needed him last year.
