Good Chance the Miami Marlins Trade Sandy Alcantara This Season
Sandy Alcantara is returning, but there’s a good chance he is traded this season. The Marlins might be looking for 1-2 veteran starting pitchers, could Andrew Heaney or Patrick Corbin be targets? Why did the Marlins trade Jesus Luzardo at the time they did?

Another great & insightful webcast.
Get rizzo & get Trevor bauer from Japan it'll only cost $4-6 million!
Trading Alcántara is logical, and (assuming he is reestablished) an ineluctable move by the deadline. Luzardo? Keeping him doesn't make a difference in 2025. I thought keeping (inexpensive) Oller would have been smart. In any case, I wager the Marlins' innings coverage plan results in every single inning of 2025 being played. They won't forfeit. Lol
Agree with you on everything
I loved the orange Jerseys
I think it depends on how well the young kids play. If they all struggle then yes we will need more farm depth. Sandy is under control so if he’s mediocre there is no point in trading him. If we could get someone like a Marcelo Mayer or another stud SS and a couple top SP prospects I’d go for it.
This season? They are tryign to move him right now. They have been. Most likely they want too much and teams dont want to risk anything coming off injury. If he pitched last yr, he would have been moved by now. EVERY plsyer on this team that makes more than minimum pay is on the block. The Marlins will only look at washed up free agents that nobody wants at the minium pay. Eventually there will be heat by MLB league offices to the Marlins and probably a few other teams.
I was originally skeptical of the rebuild and it still sucks however I do believe the only way this org can be consistent contenders is to adopt the rays, brewers, and guardians strategy. I thought the arraez trade was the worst one for bendix but the others seem ok. The timing is def debatable although I’m not confident in luzardos durability. We gotta focus on deep farm depth, player dev, surplus of “next man up” philosophy, and small ball tactics to be consistently relevant. The downside of this is probably never having a guy here for more than 6 years. Not sure if bendix is the guy but we don’t really have a choice. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again besides being a cheap small market team our biggest challenge is the division we play in. If we were in the NL or AL central things would be a lot easier.
Imo I would wait on Sandy maybe in the trade deadline because if Sandy plays like he did in 2022 then you can trade him and get some value in return. I was thinking maybe the O’s could get him since they are in a win now mode but will see what happens. Behind him we gotta hope and pray they do well or that the young guys get called up slowly like Sanoja and Norby.
I understand the state of this team. Unfortunately this team has been in this state our whole lives. This team is this state.
The orange jersey days aren’t any worse than these days. I love the orange jerseys though
I’ve said this on Twitter… I think the marlins should sign Dinelson Lamet on a short 1 year deal for another arm and has done good in the past kinda like Corbin
Sandy needs to be Bendix “holy grail” trade
To answer your question about Zus, I have personal intel from working in a certain location and having people that I know close to the organization that Zus didn’t want to be here anymore AND his health was just not it, body wise he probably has 2-3 years before he has to transition to the bullpen cause his body can’t take it, so I’m actually very happy he got what he wanted and we flipped a guy for more than what we got him
And to piggyback on adding vets, there’s nothing wrong with it the market is currently saturated with innings eaters and why not buy low to get something in return
