To be honest they should trade him now get some value knowing he is a rental to the team getting him means u wont get as much value as you should BUT its better to get at least 1 good prospect vs pulling an Angels and getting nothing for Ohtani.

Problem is, we donāt know what Vlad wanted. He could have been asking for $500M+ which I would not have given him. We sometimes forget how inconsistent he has been and how he turns it on when the Jays are out of contention. I know heās young but he and Bo have had a number of years to prove what they can do and we havenāt even won a playoff game. Not saying I am not disappointed but we need to know the number Vlad wanted.

I'm going to be devil's advocate. I'm glad they have not rolled out the Brinks truck just yet. I'd wait until at least the All Star break to see what kind of year he's having. Being a walk year the odds are if healthy he'll put up big numbers, so we'll see. If he is going to be signed for 10+ years at $500+ Million, I want him to be in the Top 5 of every offensive category across MLB across the life of the contract. I'd want to see Top 3 In MVP Voting most every year. .280 Avg with 25-30 HR and 80-100 RBI is not enough for that kind of money. Can he stay in the conversation with Judge, Soto and Ohtani? I think he can but he's got to show it.

Now, after seeing how Steve Cohen has changed the Mets organization, I can't help but wonder why these other owners don't take a page from his playbook and become personally involved in the player negotiations. Cohen sat down with key free agents face to face, demonstrating how important those players were to him personally. That sends a different message to the high-profile player. A positive message.
This is a shame.

Jim i watch almost every thing you post i watch it on the family's TV so I don't get to comment that way .I would like to ask you if there is away I can send you a picture of our grandson's first game at Roger's Center I'm sure it will explain our family's love of the Blue Jay's. I'm 63 not great on social media and not on X etc but would really love you to see this picture also not sure how to DM you or how you would receive it on a platform anyway thank you for your passion for honest fans of Baseball and your passion for The Jay's. Rogers Communications is filthy rich and were willing to throw money at Soto etc but they refuse to sign a player who is their corner stone player for their franchise.
Jays will never compete with Rogers as their Owner. Jays need new owners and new management and to start fresh.
Vladdy for Devers and a Prospect. Win-win for both teams given the circumstances.
