Obviously DJ isn't as good as he used to be but if he can get healthy and stay healthy I think he'll be extra motivated. I think he still has some gas left in the tank. I'm rooting for the guy.
The thing is, DJ mostly played 2B for Colorado. So maybe the NYY trying to make a utility out of him is what hurt him.
That being said, I feel like he's one foul ball off his foot away from potentially ending his career. At least with the Yankees.
DJ hurts, doesn't help. Best thing the Yanks can do is DFA him and open the spot to someone who has a chance of being productive – Projected to be sub-Mendoza line player
While I agree with Brian about some the officials/umpires trying to make the game about themselves I don't like where the games heading. I think if you get rid of them completely it removes an interesting aspect from the game. The human element. Why does everything have to be more automated these days? They should develop a system where umpires get penalized for blatantly bad calls. I think another issue is the officials/umpires rarely own up to their mistakes and apologize for their bad calls. That would be refreshing, wouldn't it?
Transparency at least is going on. Hopefully DJ stays healthy and regains his hitting form.
