  1. Demmer’s injury issues gave Lank all the leverage he needed to get this payday. Well earned. Lankinen has a 905 save % this season, which is also his career mark. Consistent!

  2. Given how many worse goalies signed for $5 million in recent years, this contract is still a steal. Lankinen was brought in as a stopgap goalie on basically NHL minimum wage to stay competitive until Demko was healthy. That plan seems to have gone off the tracks, Silovs is probably a few years away from being ready, and I don't know if Demko will ever be truly healthy again.
