What really is the issue with Edmonton Oilers goaltending? Featuring Devan Dubnyk

After back to back loses this past weekend could the Oilers be losing confidence in their goaltending tandem.

Today Devan Dubnyk joined the show to break down some of the goals against this past weekend and where they could look to be upgrading come the trade deadline.

What do you think the Oilers should do with their goaltending heading into the playoffs?

  1. Dubnyk flourished out of Edmonton with teams that focussed on insulating their goalies. As an Oiler goalie, he was inconsistent but played with some horrific defensive structure.
Dubnyk is being honest. Skinner won't be in Edmonton by the end of the week.
Bouchard may be moved as well.

  2. If oilers fans can’t see that the oilers needs a goalie there some thing wrong with ye oilers won’t see the sec round this year what a waste of of mcdavid career

  3. Goalie coach has to be FIRED !!!! Every goalie we’ve had under Darren Schwartz gets worse !!! Oilers trade goalies and they become great goalies that is how we know Schwartz has to go !!!
Bouchard is brutal his turnovers are costing oilers games !!!

  4. I say we keep Stuart Skinner, but he is NOT a number one right now. Let’s find a veteran like Mike Smith until Skinner is ready. Bouchard is our bigger problem………he can’t defend, does not hit, does not shoot, has no goals on the PP………let’s trade him now while he has some value?

  5. Dubnyk sucked here,he was not focused he was to involved in politics to do his job.He disrespected Nail Yakupov …..Dubnyk was brutalized by …2-3 strides over the blueline bar-down…

  6. Great interview. Can you PLEASE ask the next NHL goalie that you have on the show how important the goaltending goalie coach is and if a change of goalie coach really makes that much of a difference? Tired of seeing the “fire Schwartz” comments from people who are obviously not NHL goalies! Let’s either confirm or debunk this common narrative.

  7. THERE ARE 5 Other PLAYERS THE INCOMING PLAY HAS TO PASS.
TOO MANY DEFENCE MEN PUCK CHASING AND SCREENING AND CROWDING GOALIE .
+ NO MATTER WHO Is IN NET, UNTIL DEFENCE SMARTENS UP, IT WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE PERIOD

  8. A team that plays bad defense makes their goalie look bad. I say keep the goalies and figure out how the team played last year during the win streak when they were letting in less than 3 goals a game.

  9. The big thing I notice with our goalies compared to the rest of the league is they have a lack of fluidity and flexibility, and honestly, a lack of desperation, when compared to even goalies like Georgiev. And it’s not just one, but both of them. They don’t have great lateral movement, and I can’t remember the last time I saw Skinner do the splits to make a save (without making it look painful and like he was an 80 year old man). I’m not going to put this on our goalies, it’s most likely the way they’re being trained, especially since both of them are like that. Skinner is very good at making the positional save on wristlets, however, when the opposing team gets in close, swarms the crease, and when he’s facing an odd-man rush, he looks (as Devan said) uncomfortable and tight.

  10. How about leaving the same players on the same lines for a few game and let them develop more chemistry. All in all, they are a lazy team that doesn't take the man.

  11. It's not hard to figure out man. Idiots ran Koskinen out to get Campbell, who had worse numbers on a team with better D. When that backfired, like I knew it would, then then NEED Skinner to be great or they look like fools for running out Koskinen. Problem is, is that Skinnner isn't close to being a starter, and those genius's are just now starting to come to terms with reality. Yes, they are very good at name calling and demanding people that are right be kicked out of their online moron circles but they sure are Grade A fools when it comes to hockey. Now it's all Shwart's fault?? OMG, some people never learn. Just admit the Truth, and get a real #1 already.

  12. Skinner is falling apart fast. Had a good run but was never supposed to be the starter anyway. We had two playoffs where he totally collapsed in key series and you have to think the Panthers let their guard down after being up 0-3, with Skinner being a big reason why (.826 in Game 3 when Oil only lost by 1). Statistically the Oilers needed a miracle to win four straight (hadn't been done in 80 + years) and with the last game being on opposing ice it was pretty much impossible.
