  1. The Hurricanes got old before coming into peak form. For 5 years they have relied on being able to shut people down. That was their identity. They lost Skeij and Pesce all while Burns and Orlov got a year older. Burns is not who he was 2 years ago and is not content being a shut down D-man. The two additions to the D this year leaned heavy to offensive production at the expense of D and now that is drying up. The D additions were made hoping they could make it work for the POs this year until some more talent came to the forefront. At least right now it seems that it is coming apart at the seams.

  2. It's increasing… That's the reality. We have become a predictable team that most of the league understands and knows what to expect from and thus go into games with solid plans to beat the Canes. The coaches need to do much more than tinker with lines to adjust – the entire system needs to be reviewed and adjusted. It's not a talent problem anymore – it's far more of a coaching problem as much as I hate saying that. This coaching staff in starving for new ideas in the O-zone particularly.
