Welcome to our Sparks Unrivaled Update Series! There are four Sparks players participating in the inaugural season of Unrivaled. We will be doing a weekly recap on how these players are doing in Miami as they play some 3×3 basketball in a competitive environment during the WNBA offseason.

This past week featured good performances for Sparks players participating in Unrivaled. Dearica Hamby and Rae Burrell played well but split their games for team Team Vinyl and the same thing happened to Rickea Jackson as a member of Team Mist.

Azurá Stevens did not play for Team Rose, as she is dealing with a leg injury. Her squad won both of their matchups.

Team Vinyl

Hamby continues to be one of the best players in Unrivaled. She flirted with a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds in Vinyl’s 72-65 win over the Mist. Burrell was sensational in this win as well. She scored 13 points, including the team’s final nine points.

Sparks forward Dearica Hamby and wing Rae Burrell led Vinyl to victory at Unrivaled. Burrell scored her team’s final nine points, finishing with 13 PTS (4-for-6 FG; 1-for-1 3PT; 2-for-2 FT), 4 REB, 3 AST, 2 BLK and 1 STL. Hamby totaled 23 PTS (9-for-16 FG; 2-for-2 3PT), 9 REB, 3…

Vinyl lost to Phantom 79-72 in their other contest this week. In that loss, the Sparks duo played fine but showed a slight dip in performance. Hamby ended the night with 19 points and six rebounds and Burrell scored 10 points in her 11 minutes of play.

Team Mist

Coming off of her WNBA rookie campaign, Jackson is all about getting buckets in Unrivaled. She is an offensive spark plug and displayed that best in the team’s 65-49 win against the Laces on Monday. In that game, Jackson scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She also was an effective defender, registering three rejections.

Jackson was quieter in her team’s 72-65 defeat against Rose. She struggled from the field, going 2-9 and scoring just four points. Still, the good has outweighed the bad for Jackson in this 3×3 league and these reps could help her hit the ground running once WNBA action resumes.

Upcoming Games

This weekend, you can watch Hamby and Burrell play for Team Vinyl on Friday against the Laces and on Monday in a contest with the best team in the league, the Lunar Owls.

Jackson and the Mist have two games on the schedule for week six. They play the Phantom on Friday and then take on Team Rose on Saturday.

If Stevens is cleared to play for Team Rose, she can participate in Saturday’s matchup against Jackson and the Mist. Her team is also slated to play the Laces on Monday.

All games are also streaming on MAX.
