  4. wow that's wild. Is Carolina that lame that no one wants to stay there? 12 mil AAV?! that sounds rather low considering everyone was talking about him going for 14 mil AAV. But hey, whatever.

  7. Carolina made the best of a bad situation. They figured they could trade and sign Rantanen, but it appears Rantanen either balked at resigning in Carolina, or Carolina started thinking Rantanen was a product of playing with McKinnon, and might not be worth $13-14Mil per year. At least they got 2 #1 picks and Stankoven out of the deal, but definitely not a better team on paper today than it was yesterday, or even before they traded Necas. Also, don't forget Necas was unhappy last year, even though he was playing well when they traded him to CO.

    Just wonder why he did not sign with Carolina. Maybe he did not believe they can ever win the Cup. In that he can be right.

    Carolina has sold many good players like mentioned here.

  13. From a canes perspective I’m wondering what these people keep talking about that we’re a contender? No we weren’t/aren’t. We were sniffing it. Especially since rantanen wasn’t producing in our system why would we want to get nothing for him so we can go home one game later in the playoffs? What magical thing was going to happen in the next few weeks?

  14. as a carolina fan ………truly confused about my team and what their plan is as it is weve dumped a whole top line in last 2 years without getting much in return……necas was a future star 2 ….who get miko Rantanen on a wim …the dude is literally an allstar and we go …meh …we go meh wayyyy to much these days…..we do need to actaully do somthing to win going forward….purging talent aint helping

  17. Carolina just made a Bad move. As an AVS fan, We made out for sure but we do Miss Our Mikko. Congratulations Mikko. See you in the playoffs.

  19. If you look at it like necas for stankoven and 2 firsts and 2 thirds its a slam dunk.. Carolina will be a good team for a while. Maybe they aren't loading up this year but in terms of raw value they're cruising

  31. With Rantanen I don't think it was about the money. Maybe initially for Colorado it was that His team thought they didn't offer enough, but for Carolina and others it was more where He and his gf wanted to live.

I don’t think these guys watched Rantanen play a single game as a hurricane, dude playing over 20+ mins a night with pp1 time and has 6 points in 13-14 games as a SUPERSTAR… I hope Dallas gets the real Mikko, and the he screws over the canes front office by taking his sweet time signing so no moves could be made after, good riddance

  36. 12.625 mil. We will miss Stanky. But we had to make the move. The cup is worth it. Go Stars. He was offered this same contract in other cities and he turned them all down. Just shows he wants to play in Big D. So pumped!

  38. Dallas got shafted. They basically got a player who is only good because he had Nate and Makar feeding him the puck. Especially with Dallas defensive structure and no real talent besides Robo, Rantanen is going to be Elias Lindholm after he left Calgary
