Jeeze, a starting pitcher has a bad season and get's thrown under the bus?
Bad look for the owner.
Also wonder if his elbow contributed to his troubles last year.
He looks outta shape in those spring videos.
billionaire owner, complaining about paying meagre millions to one player. The perspective is wild, your not always going to have success. Mostly losing actually, that is why these MLB teams employ those statisticians and undermine player salaries more then ever.
Maybe that’s why they had such a good offense. Pitchers at AZ struggle
The combover mullet is under appreciated
Jordan Montgomery is trash trade him
Anyone notice that everyone's players are getting hurt except the Dodgers?
In hindsight, Boras did a pretty good job, getting him 45 mil for one season of work…
Kendrick looks like Burglekutt from “Willow.”
That combover is more disrespectful than that contract
2016: Shelby Miller
2017: Taijan Walker
2020: Madison Bumgarner
2025: Jorden Montgomery
The more things change the more they stay the same. Dbacks pitching problems
I remember thinking at the time that I've no idea how Kendrick's comments are going to help the situation in any way.
Glad the Yankees didn't retrade for Monty… unfortunately this makes things easier for the superteam
Who in the World Series I talk?
I don’t see how Montgomery could blame the humidity in that stadium. Did he not play in St. Louis? As someone who grew up in the area. You can’t find too many places in the lower 48 that is as humid as Busch stadium.
So sad for Jordan
I’m not saying I’m glad Monty got hurt. That’s a shame, it really is. But boy am I glad we don’t have to shoehorn him into the rotation or even trot him out of the bullpen. I’m starting to think he was sorta hurt this whole time and it finally snapped all the way. Hope he gets healthy and makes a come back. But he can’t leave the desert fast enough 😂
This is why you shouldnt rush to make big decisions whenever you are hesitant in the first place. Big L by the Diamondbacks
D-backs legend
How can a pitcher blame the weather? Doesn't the other team's pitcher play in the same weather as Montgomery?
Yea chase field lacks in A/C, it gets really hot sitting watching a game here
Had him on my Franchise in The Show, he was decent. However that is THE SHOW
Oh my god- it’s like Ken Kendrick watched YT videos of Cyraxx and was all, “see that hairstyle? I need it.” To his barber
Wow. I wanted my Braves to trade for him at one point. Glad that didn’t happen now. Sucks for Montgomery though. Hate to see any pitcher get hurt.
Thanks for covering the Dbacks:)
BOAT stands for Bust Out Another Thousand, I know all to well.
I don’t at all mind an owner voicing his displeasure when making a huge financial commitment to a player doesn’t pan out. Let me preface this by saying I’m a card carrying UAW member and have been for years.
I am NOT siding with owners over the players but…. When players do get that nice contract, there’s an obligation to live up to their end of the bargain. Full stop. Look at how many guys are just collecting a check.
Then the players cry and moan that owners are hesitant about shelling out the cash.
Players should police themselves in this regard. It’s good for themselves and the guys in the future. KEEP THE $$$ FAUCET OPEN!!!
When guys fail to live up to expectations, it’s bad for everyone. Fans, teams, players… you name it.
I really wish jordan was able to play and show his 2023 ability again
Kinda smug Burnes outro, but I get it.
Ngl should've kept seawald instead of him
I think ppl misinterpreted the owners comments. He just said ‘don’t blame the GM or scouts. They didn’t want to make this move and i overrode them and signed him. I fucked it up. Don’t blame the front office, blame me.’ I respect that a lot and it’s sad that his words got so misconstrued
Montgomery blaming God for his wonky elbow was a plot twist I didn't see coming.
Diamondbacks will find that player won't want to play for them now that their owner just shit on Montgomery and find out that he was injured. Bad move by Bad team and owner.
How was he unprofessional talking about the situation? I remember watching the original interview and I thought all owners should be like him. He said he wanted to sign Montgomery because he had confidence in him, but then said he regretted it due to his performance. Not a single time did he say Montgomery is a bad person, he wasn't trying, had a bad attitude, or really anything other than he played bad, which he did, and it was a bad signing… I wish all owners were like him, and honestly he makes me like the Dbacks, not my favorite team, but it's definitly a contender for my 2nd favorite team to follow
A reactionary account. Never report real news. Just shit on teams actually spending money to try and improve. You suck
I’m upset about it and I’m in diamondback San
Madison Bumgarner, 5 years $85 million. 15 – 32, 5.23 ERA over 69 starts.
No sympathy here.
22.5M to sit home.
buyer's remorse, big deal, happens A.L.T.
I wonder if the owner's big anger at Montgomery is mostly because he's mad he got essentially swindled by Scott boras. Which weirdly makes Montgomery firing Scott the reason why he took more fire instead of the agent at the time. Not really his fault but it kind of left him as the only Target
I don't really understand why people thought Jordan Montgomery was some elite starter. Outside of post trade deadline with the rangers, he's been an aggressively mid guy his entire career. Doesn't really possess anything elite in his arsenal.
I'm not excusing the GM here for his comments and probably he should be more excoriated for it. But he's the one that made that deal and no one put a gun to his head. Getting mad at a dude who probably didn't warrant that big of an aav contract, simply because he agreed to it and maximized his earning is dumb. Especially coming from an owner whose job is to maximize the success in the earning potential of his team and his own profits
Pitchers needing to leave a game due to heat….God, pitchers are babies today. I think of players in the 1920s with zero sports medicine, low pay, bad equipment, heavy wool uniforms, all day games, traveled by train, no AC, and they played every day, sometimes with sprains, strains, and breaks.
I dunno – Madison Bumgardner was pretty bad too
AZ has a history of signing veteran pitchers in decline and then wondering why they kept declining.
Homie was never good to begin with 🤷🏾♂️
I don't think it's about the money or years for the owner. It's about them being a few wins away from a WS and Montgomery set them further from it.
