The Indiana Fever made a splash earlier this offseason when the team traded for guard Sophie Cunningham as part of a three-team deal that sent the No. 2 pick in 2020, Satou Sabally, to the Phoenix Mercury from the Dallas Wings, who received point guard Ty Harris and the rights to Mikiah “Kiki” Herbert Harrigan from Phoenix and NaLyssa Smith from the Fever.

Cunningham immediately endeared herself to fans by calling herself Sabrina Carpenter to Caitlin Clark’s Taylor Swift. While she admitted she was joking at the time, she doubled down on Clark’s phenomenal presence.

“It really was a joke,” she told Us Weekly. “I think that Taylor Swift has helped Sabrina Carpenter so much, and I think that Caitlin Clark has helped not only her teammates, but our whole league, our whole sport in general, not only here in America, but around the world.”

Before she steps out onto the court with Clark, Cunningham teased an offseason move with Summer House star West Wilson. “I smell somethin brewin,” she teased while showing off her figure in a skintight body suit.

Cunningham is looking forward to playing with the star power the Fever have brought in this offseason.

“I’m gonna let her be the star that she is, and she totally deserves it. If she needs me in the corner when I have a wide open three, then I’ll be there to support her,” she said. “I really am excited to get up there and play with her, play with Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, you have DeWanna Bonner, you have Natasha Howard. Our team is stacked. Stacked.”

The Fever kick off their 2025 season on May 17 when they face off against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
