Cincinnati Reds Shutout For SECOND STRAIGHT GAME! Time To Panic? | Chatterbox Reds | Game 6
Trace Fowler and Nick Kirby will be LIVE in the 9th inning for Chatterbox Reds LIVE Postgame Show.
The Cincinnati Reds face off against the Texas Rangers in the decisive third game of their early-season series at Great American Ball Park. With the series tied at 1-1, this afternoon’s matchup, scheduled for 12:40 PM EDT, promises to be a pivotal clash as both teams vie for the upper hand. The Reds are coming off a rollercoaster start to the series, while the Rangers look to build on their momentum from a tightly contested victory last night.
The series opener on March 31 saw the Reds dominate with a 14-3 rout, showcasing their offensive firepower. Elly De La Cruz was the standout, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBIs, and four runs scored, while Matt McLain added a homer and three RBIs. Brady Singer anchored the pitching effort with seven shutout innings, striking out eight. It was a statement win for Cincinnati, hinting at the potential of their young, dynamic lineup. However, the Rangers flipped the script on April 1, edging out a 1-0 victory behind Nathan Eovaldi’s masterful complete-game shutout. Eovaldi allowed just four hits, struck out eight, and needed only 99 pitches to silence the Reds’ bats, with Wyatt Langford’s first-inning homer providing the lone run. The contrast between the two games underscores the unpredictability of this matchup.
Today’s pitching duel features Cincinnati’s Hunter Greene against Texas’ Jack Leiter. Greene, a 25-year-old right-hander, takes the mound for his second start of 2025. In his season debut, he allowed two runs over five innings, striking out eight, and boasts a strong track record against Texas hitters, who have a .160 average against him. Despite a 3.38 ERA at home last season—higher than his stellar 2.05 on the road—Greene’s strikeout prowess (14.4 K/9 this year) could keep the Rangers’ offense in check. Leiter, meanwhile, impressed in his first start of the season, surrendering just one run over five innings against the Red Sox. The 24-year-old righty, son of former MLB pitcher Al Leiter, brings a fresh arm and a 1.80 ERA into this contest, setting the stage for a low-scoring affair.
The Reds’ offense, led by De La Cruz and McLain, will need to rebound after being stifled by Eovaldi. De La Cruz’s speed and power make him a constant threat, while McLain’s consistency adds depth. However, injuries to key players like Tyler Stephenson and Austin Hays have left Cincinnati searching for secondary production. For the Rangers, Langford’s early power surge—he’s tied for the team lead with two homers—pairs with a steady bullpen to give them an edge in close games. Texas has won four of their first six contests, showing resilience despite a quiet offense overall.

used all our hitting power in game one lmao
Brutal start to the season.
Shame on the Reds for looking so SILLY the last couple games !! Reminds me of the Bungles in the 90s
We need Stevenson’s bat back… but even that isn’t a guarantee.
Any show where you aren't screaming "sell the team Bob" is a wasted show. Year after year they don't even try to win. You can't look at this off season and seriously say they tried. Didn't even attempt to address an offense that was incredibly bad last year. They have two maybe three big league hitters. The worst ownership group in all of sports has destroyed a once great franchise!!!! Until ownership changes this team will be awful!!!
This all could have been solved if we had kept Fairchild.
For those saying "Calm down it's only April", it's been 10+ consecutive seasons of this sh*t. Trace is angry for a good reason and I'm glad somebody is saying it.
Fraley gets a base hit and then turns into an NPC on the base paths.
Real players make clutch plays clutch hits and ruin the nost amazing pitching its timde for tito to clean house bring back.reese stevensons bat to be honest ella is on a bad offensive team tims to get the guy some help
I think all the reds players need to realize if they're right-handed or left-handed. They have 24 square ft of space on their side of the box. They're allowed to move around. Don't have to stand there like a statue. Adjust to what's happening in front of you. Unbelievable !
And spencer steer is not the same spencer steer evem before he got hurt time to overhaul the offense around elle and stevenson when he comes back
typical Reds fans – complaining about how awful the Reds hitting is and ignoring how awesome the opposing pitching has been. next up is a 4 game series against a Brewers team whose pitching sucks.
It’s been 10 years of this… it’s brutal to watch… We honestly are the most low key fans, if this was Philly they would be booed off the damn field for doing this every game.. I’m not saying it’s always right but they need something…
Reds did this last season. Fans wanted Brent Rooker past 2 season
signing Nick Martinez for 21m worst move the reds made
#fireTito the old man is just not fit mentally to manage a baseball team anymore or young kids that’s don’t want to be held back
Back to back games with goose eggs are you freaking kidding me get rid of all those bums Cincinnati sucks yet again
Trace brought the 🔥 and it was well warranted. Patience patience blah blah blah. I need to see a team with a different manager (a HOF Mgr, perhaps) not doing the exact same things they did under the old Manager. Losing every single rubber game AT HOME, again, is not what change is made of. Record of the team on Sundays and week day getaway games at GABP, over the last few years in particular, is horrible. Why is that??
I think it’s pretty obvious. BASEBALL NEEDS TO HAVE A SALARY CAP. There is a reason why teams with small markets rarely make the playoffs.
This is the reds, they’re always great the first game and horrible the next.
Oh yeah, a manager who's so clueless that he picks the opening day closer by playing eeny-meeny miney-mo is going to contend without a consistent power bat in a hitter-friendly park. BS
Reds doing what they do best. The worst team in MLB
unacceptable that this is the production we're getting from guys on a major league roster. BUT i'm not giving up hope on what this roster can do with a healthy Stephenson, Hays, and Steer PLUS one legit homerun hitter. bring back eugenio at this point for all i care, but good god Eloy is worth the risk compared to this. all we're missing is one guy who can hit 30 bombs in a season
