Friday Night Done Right | Royals Topple Orioles to Open Series

The Royals returned to Kauffman Stadium to open the first multi-series homestand of the season with a rematch of the 2024 Wild Card Series vs. the Baltimore Orioles. Seth Lugo was in fine form, logging a quality start by scattering just a pair of runs (2 R, 1 ER) over 6.0 innings. Salvador Perez got the Royals on the board with a weather-aided RBI double in the bottom of the 1st, but it was Maikel Garcia’s night to shine on offense, giving the Royals the lead with a two-run single in the 4th before driving in another in the 8th. The Royals would go on to break the game open in that 8th inning, putting 5 on the board, highlighted by Vinnie Pasquantino’s three-run single, giving the Boys in Blue a nice cushion on the way to an 8-2, series-opening win.
