However this season ends for us, this guy just nailed it all season long. We all missed Rick at the start of the year, but John was outstanding.

  1. I agree. I would still take Rick back in a heartbeat but Jon was a sufficient salve for the wound.

  2. I’m mildly surprised to see this. Is that the consensus? I thought he was just ok.

  3. He definitely grew on me as the season went along.
I do think also, he got more comfortable and improved as the season went.

  4. He was definitely green coming into it but I think he’s settled in better of late

  5. I really enjoyed his Tuesday morning radio appearances in Calgary. He seemed more open than you’d hear on anything tv related

  6. Rick will always be the GOAT but Jon was solid. Better than that hyperbolic heavy breather that calls Oiler games.

  7. The interesting thing is that I felt like his voice sounded more like Rick Ball as the season went along. Didn’t end up feeling like a huge change in my opinion.

  8. I agree. Not sure how anyone is hating on the guy, super unproblematic and super similar to Rick Ball in style and tone

  9. He did a great job, and he also had to endure the loss of a colleague.

  10. I’m just grateful he doesn’t sound like Sam Kinison, like our northern neighbours announcer.

  11. I think he does a great job overall. I do wish he would tone the homer bias a little. But after losing Rick things could have been so much worse.
