  1. He was the type of guy you need on your team to win a Stanley cup. Was able to channel all the emotion into better play on the ice. Will always remember his double OT goal VS the kings in 2013.

  2. After so much silence over the injury reality due to NHL culture, it is good to finally hear from the patient or horse's mouth what was happening. In his retirement news conference, Logan showed the full set of teeth he has replaced after his playing days were over, and didn't want to go back to dentists. Pro Hockey is very hard on the body and playing injured is a way of life for many competitive teams. Logan Couture is a smart hockey player and smart human being to stop before he cripples himself or does further damage to his future mobility. This is smarter than Bobby Orr and many other players who hurt themselves for life. I hope Logan takes a team picture with Shark rookies who still have most of their front teeth as rookies, and they all smile together. Hockey pucks break teeth and it is part of the game many are happy to retire from.

I wonder if the best thing about Logan Couture (his clutch abilities on special teams and ability to excell at the right times) is something that you can teach others or if it is innate so you are either born with it or not. Knowing how to be in the right place on ice at the right times and knowing how the puck tends to bounce or not, what passes make it or not, and all that inside knowledge of the game itself is what hockey IQ means. Thank you Logan for many peak entertainment moments in Sharks history and I hope you are part of coaching the next generation into excelling when it counts. Sharks need extra help with special teams and Logan Couture would have great insight into this current weakness in their game.

  3. Sad to see that Logan is stepping away from hockey. However, now he can spend more time as a husband and father.

Hopefully, he can stay connected with the Sharks organization in some capacity.

  4. He was the first sharks prospect I was really excited about as I became a fan in 2001. We knew once we got to the playoffs he was going to turn it on and dominate and he always did. Hope he gets a job with the organization and stays forever.

  5. Hey Brodie and Logan,
Thank you both for doing this conversation under such difficult circumstances. I cannot imagine how hard this has to be for you Logan and for you Brodie. I sit her with tears in my eyes knowing that we will never get to see number 39 wear the teal again and lead the charge as you always did Logan.

It is said that the best leaders lead by example and that great leaders lead from the front. You always lead from the front Logan. Those of us who had the distinct pleasure of watching you throughout your career will recall you with great reverence and longing. It will be some time I suspect before we see your like in teal again.

I am so sorry that things wound up this way for you Logan. To my mind it is the worst outcome for an athlete. To have to leave the game you love because of injury rather than leaving it all on the ice one last time and leaving on your terms. I wish it could have been that way for you but, you are making the right choice and I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of watching you play. Thank you for all the thrills Logan and I wish you and your family all the joy a life can bring. You have definitely earned it

    Cheers!

  6. Very sad day to be a Sharks fan. I didn’t think this would happen soo soon. I thought he would give it one more go, just one more try. Obviously this injury is super debilitating and every time he attempts to strengthen his groin it just ends up worse. I’ve read a few success and comeback stories with regard to this injury. I hear that it affects Soccer players and Runners the most. I wonder if he spoke with Celebrini’s Father about this because I’m sure he has some experience with this injury in pro athletes. I heard you have to lay off all activities for 6+ months before even attempting the slightest strength training, like foam rolling or ball rolling, slow methodical movements. You’re looking at 1-1.5 years before you’re even thinking about doing full exercise.. or in Couture’s case… stepping on the ice again.

  7. Even though I'm an Oilers fan, I've always loved this guy and even this franchise. He was incredible to watch. I wish him the best, hopefully comes back as part of the staff. Sharks are becoming exciting to watch again.

  8. Cooch put his body and soul to represent the franchise and to play in the most high level possible. I saw him getting drafted when I started as a Sharks fan and It's sad to see him leave. His honesty is amazing and I definitely happy to see that he's leaving to try an live a normal life. He deserves it. Awesome work Clucthure!!

  9. Thank you for the amazing memories that you created. Congrats on an amazing career. Enjoy the next chapter, and I hope you'll come back in some capacity. Wishing you great health!

  10. You can tell from the interview and press conference that Logan is finding it difficult to step away. He's on the verge of tears and longs to relive those nostalgic experiences. I feel bad for him but must say that I enjoyed watching him early in his career. Fantastic player and all around guy. Only Pickles is left from the late 2000's, early 2010's Sharks. I miss those days.

  11. As a Sharks fan since 1991 Logan Couture is absolutely one of the greatest Sharks in franchise history. Its definitely the end of a great era in Sharks history and one of the greatest clutch players whoever played in San Jose.

  12. San Jose's greatest playoff performer. Captain Clootch! He really felt like the missing piece the core needed during our run. What a special player and forever Shark!

Thank you Brodie for this awesome interview

  13. Even as a Ducks fan, I have to take my hat off for Logan Couture. He'll be missed, but hopefully he can live a healthy and painfree life as a dad and husband now. Best of luck!

  14. My best friend and I went to a game this year and got to meet Logan and share how much he meant to us. It was wild how much you could see in his eyes HOW MUCH he just yearned and missed playing. Cooch will go down as one of the greatest playoff scorers to play.

  15. Imagine complaining about him not showing up for a team photo because he's not able to get out of bed or was mentally preparing to accept reality that his career was over or was out trying to seek medial attention for his injury.
I'll get a lot of flack for it, but ya'll owe him an apology.
