[Blue Jays] ROSTER MOVE: 🔹 UTIL Davis Schneider optioned to Triple-A

  1. This is the right move.

While I don’t think he’s ever going to be a world beater, Schneider is clearly struggling. He is better off trying to work through that with consistent playing time at AAA rather than sitting on the bench in Toronto.

  2. How are we com going to compete in the moustaches per inning stats now! Disaster!

  3. Hopefully he can figure it out getting a regular AB. Sucks things haven’t gone well for him, seems like a great guy. Hopefully he can come up in a few months and mash lefties

  4. I’ll miss captain mustache.

Hopefully he has an Edwin arc in the minors and figures out the tweaks to his bat he needs to make in the minors and comes back better than ever. I’m rooting for him

  5. He’s a good guy, hopefully he figures out how to hit again. Overdue if you ask me.

  6. It’s tough because I do feel he was turning around the corner the last few times I’ve seen him. Was taking some tough pitches. Hopefully he can continue working on his game in Buffalo with regular playing time. Still think there’s value in what he brings.

  7. Figured it’d happen but it makes me sad. I hope he finds his groove again with more ABs and comes back stronger. Won’t be the same without the stache.

  8. It’s definitely the right call but I love this guy and I hope we see him back with some adjustments.

  9. *sigh*

I just want the best for my boy and I feel like this is for the best.

  10. He’s been awful since his 3rd week in the bigs. Surprised it took this long but if there’s ever going to be a productive big league version of Davis Schneider, he’s got a lot of work to do in the minors to figure it out.

  11. I love the concept of Davis Schneider but we’ve got more productive players right now who need the ABs.

  13. Literally the only thing my 13-year old ever asks about the Jays is ‘how is the little mustache man’ doing. I might not get him to watch with me until Davis figures things out again. And I hope he does, so fun to watch!

  14. Love this guy, his family, and his story….but this is now a pretty large sample size to look at. I’m not sure if this guy is a major leaguer. I will be surprised if we ever see a valuable bench piece version of Davis Schneider in the big leagues ever again.

  15. I mean…yeah. Unfortunate, but the right move. Hopefully it really helps him and he can come back stronger

  16. As a fan of the Jays winning, I support this. As a fan of individual Jays that bring some excitement or enthusiasm to the team or the fan base, I dislike this.

  17. I was at his first game in Boston, so I had a soft spot for the guy. This is long overdue

  18. This is the best thing for Davis right now. Way too hard to work your way out of a funk as a utility guy who is not getting consistent reps. Give him some time to work on his swing without the pressure of “If I don’t get a hit here I’m not playing for the next four games”.

  19. Honestly. Not sure he even should have made the team. But this is the correct thing to do now.
Rotting on the bench in Toronto is useless for him.
Hope he gets it back together in AAA

  20. Sad. But had to happen. He needs to go down there and figure it out. I will miss him.

  21. I’m a little sad about this – he seems like a fun guy – but I’m not surprised. Except for 2023, when he likely made an adjustment, his minor league numbers are not all that good.

I don’t think Barger is going to make it either – his minor league numbers also aren’t great. But his raw tools are much better, so there’s more hope that he might figure it out.
